017 spotted on 2W16 this morning - first time I've seen that one in passenger service I think?

006 on 2W27
014 2C16
011 on 2C14 I think
Another 345 spotted at Ilford, possibly 2C10

The diagrams did change on Monday so that may explain the changes you are seeing. Also Gidea Park yard didn’t open as planned on Monday so there are a few changes this week to accommodate that.

Yeah I still see empty ones running to Shenfield although not at the same times. Either way, I'm pretty sure there's many more than 3 units back in service now, though I still count at least 6 sitting at Ilford.

According to the latest TfL Board report there are 12 units available for service. Does this appear to have basis in reality?

12 units have been in service, yes, but not at the same time, it's usually 3-5 (I seem to recall hearing it's meant to be 8-9 but the failure rate of the units currently prevents that) Almost all of them are at Ilford this morning, the only 345 I've seen is on 2W26.
Edit: 015 also on 2C16, that appears to be it for today, just those two units out.

Yeah that one must have recently changed then as I was sure 2C25 was 345 last week. With only two 345s out today that I could see I imagine there arew several substitutions.

Looks like the 1756 and 1804 diagrams have swapped over again. It's difficult keeping up!

Edit: I stand corrected, the 1756 is just a 315 substitution today, 1804 remains 315.
I believe this makes the 345 diagrams 2C72, 2C74 , 2W42 and 2W56.

2C74 is still due to be a 315, however, there are so many changes going on at moment it's difficult to know what will turn up on any given day. Services were stepped up today due to a fault with a 345 first thing today, which may have led to some substitutions. The other three are due to be operated by the 345s.

I don't have dates at hand but I would assume full fleet replacement is not required until next year.

315s (with no heating!) substituting on 2W31 today.

What's interesting is that, as of a couple of weeks ago, any time a 315 operates this particular service, the wrong PIS code is used, stating that it only calls at Romford, Ilford and Stratford. It's not the same driver each time, nor is it the same unit, so why is it happening? :s

Regarding the PIS, I believe that is due to the system not having the correct sequences programmed for the different calling patterns which were introduced in December. The Gidea Park starter trains which omit Forest Gate also don’t work.

That makes sense, sort of, but why not just leave the PIS disabled for those services?

3 units spotted in service today and 10 in the sidings. I didn't realise a thirteenth unit had arrived, is 013 finally with us or is there another I don't know about?

It appears so, 005-012 and 014-017 have been in service, which makes 12.

Samuel, I've got 002 and 013 as being at Ilford but not in service but that might be out-of-date. 001 (I assume) is still at Old Dalby and I understand that 003 and 004 are still in bits around the Bombardier factory. Not sure which two of 001-004 will be 7 car to take us up to the 15 x 7 car units number.

On Saturday 002 was at Arriva TrainCare in Crewe - anyone know why? High speed trials?

Ah, I forgot about 002 - I know one is tucked away at the back behind the new building, but I assumed that was 013 - the one that's inside the older building moves occasionally so I assume it's not always the same unit in there - difficult to see if there's any more than one in there from the viewing angle of a passing service, especially if like today the windows are all fogged up due to the lack of heat inside!

I'm not too sure. I had one the other day working to Gidea Park in the evening and I only realised it didn't work when it failed to set up. I had to manual PAs until Manor Park then used an existing all stations to Gidea Park code to cover the remaining stops.

It probably is 013 then as dp21 has reliably informed us that 002 was at Crewe.

Near a bunch of sheds that aren't 66s.

I had a driver do this the other day which was a good use of resources. Friday 1756 departure I think it was to Shenfield. As aforementioned, the 315s don't have the code for 'Maryland, Manor Park' which means the PA usually stays off until Manor Park (eastbound) or Maryland (westbound) where the driver then turns it on. I'm wondering if this is also why the 345s were put on the ex-Gidea Park or 'Maryland, Manor Park' workings as they had the correct set up.

Also a thank you to all the drivers for actually remembering to turn it on at Maryland / Manor Park. With the several calling patterns on TfL Rail, to the general public it makes their journey a lot easier and also the guy, whose name I won't mention, at Liverpool Street most days for making clear PA announcements on all the TfL Rail trains coming in and out and their calling patterns. Regular TfL Rail commuters over the last few years probably are aware of who he is.

I've heard the voice many times but I don't think I've ever seen him. Definitely one of the better announcers I'll admit.

Back into the topic of 345s, doesn't look like any fix for the driver's microphone is forthcoming. I wondered if perhaps the more recently delivered units would be better but 015 is the worst I've heard so far, absolutely deafening, and the announcement was completely inaudible over the screaming.

The feedback is horrible on the 345s. I can't remember which unit I had the other week where the train broke down at Goodmayes and the driver came on over the PA only for a loud screeching noise that had ticked everyone off to just overshadow the announcement. Might have been 008 for that one.

The guy is white, slightly older, bald and often carries a tablet (showing OpenTrainTimes maps into LST) and/or clipboard. Surely you've seen him!

2W31 seems back to 315s on a daily basis now.

If unit availability is still too low when the core is due to open, is there any provision for 7-car units to operate through it?
