Lets just say the seating affectionardos are probably not going to like them at least from my own MK1 eyeball. The boss says they are comfy though!

Hopefully they will undertake a customer satisfaction exercise (similar to the one that began this fiasco in the first place) and discover that the passengers think the new seats are crap. Then quickly abandon the replacement.

They are the exact same seats that have been shown off on the 195 shots.

I'm sure 845 will be paraded to the media soon enough.
If that's the case, those seats will be fine most likely. The very mention of new seats seems to excite the 'lizard-brain' of some on here and all rational thinking goes out the window...

Reported on wnxx that 150104 and 150106 have re-entered service with GWR after the planned move to Northern has been postponed due to GWR having a DMU shortage.

Small correction, 170476/477 haven't yet arrived, they are expected to move south in the next few days but thus far only 475/478 have actually arrived.

Rather looking forward to Class 170s on the Harrogate Loop... eventually.. will feel like a right upgrade for us punters used to go Class 150s/142s/144s/155s.

When will the 170s enter service? Will we seem them in May? And are they still going to be used on Calder valley services first, or has it all changed now?

I believe (from what I read in other threads) the Class 170s will to begin with operate Leeds-Chester via Bradford to releases Class 158s for Manchester- North Western operations.
When the Class 195s arrive they will be set to work Leeds-Harrogate-Knasbourgh/York and Leeds-Southport

So to answer your question YES Calder Valley will see them first. I think May is the aim but depends on driver training etc... I expect

You have that the wrong way around I think Kieran. 170s will be on the Harrogate loop and Southport works. 195s will be on the Leeds - Vic - Airport/Calder Valley work but not to Harrogate so far as I know.

I would imagine you will still see 150s and 156s on the Calder Valley too. Its going to be the only way they can transfer units from ones side to other once all the Huddersfield line goes over to TPE. Also Leeds are going to be signing 156s shortly too.

I think the "they" in his 2nd paragraph is referring to 170s not 195s.

Reportedly 156420 has retained Chapman seating but the seats have been recovered and repainted. However, it's lost it's carpet and now has lino instead.

Things seem somewhat inconsistent and does that mean that not all 156's will get new seats?

If you believe the person who works for Angel who posts on here changing the seats on the 150s is going to prove difficult and expensive to do.

I do hope the ex-ATN 156s get new seats, regardless of what's happening to 150s, as they are uncomfortable and there's too many seats squeezed in meaning there's very little leg room.

I believe that what you've read in other threads about 170s on Calder Valley routes started with a post from me a while back saying something along the lines that I'd heard a rumour that this was a possibility. To my horror this was repeated without any qualification whatsoever by others and now seems to have become an accepted truth. Unless there has been confirmation by someone else, this remains pure speculation. I've heard nothing new since the original rumour.

I've learnt not to post rumours here, it was illuminating how quickly a rumour of a possibility morphed into a "true fact".

Lejog, please be horrified no more. I asked the question my self about 170s on the company Facebook group and the reply from the engineering director was that 170s are confirmed on Leeds to Southport workings via the Calder Valley, obviously subject to the timetable being finalised for said services.
