I have for a number of years considered that WW3 effectively started with the 1998 embassy bombings in Africa and has been rumbling along slowly ever since, with the September 11th attacks the most obvious manifestation of it.

I doubt Russia or any other country would tell the UK they plan to flatten great Britain, and I'm sure the last thing on your mind would be catching a train.
If UK was nuclearised it would be recommended that you stay indoors or underground for a few months

Living in London, if there was a threat of a nuclear war, I would be seriously considering a train to somewhere less populated. Sleeper to Fort William for example.

Whereas I'd be heading towards the most likely target I could find. I'd rather be killed on the initial exchange that survive and suffer death at the hands of radiation sickness or starvation or disease.

Or the battle between survivors. There would be areas that could potentially be habitable even in the days following an exchange, but with no supplies it would be dog eat dog.

I watched "Threads" on Youtube a few years ago, along with the studio discussion that was broadcast along with it. I'd probably prefer to be fairly close to a target too, and with RAF Lossiemouth only a few miles away, I reckon I'll be gone fairly quickly.

Funnily enough I went cycling past Finningley last Sunday and the Vulcan bomber was outside, just west of the terminal buildings. Hopefully Russia knows it's not in use now and that all a Tactical Nuclear Strike on Finningley would disrupt is the several dozen tourists drinking in the morning at the Wetherspoons there

Though it had already happened up here as we're still in the middle of a nuclear winter (as alluded to above). Three - three - daffodils have decided to open, the rest have given up the ghost nearly a month late.

At least they're playing cricket at Greater Old Trafford, must have a micro-climate there.

EDIT quick check and it's now 10.3c, the highest so far this year.
