The Derby project extends all they way up to Clay Cross and the matlock branch. Most of the work up there is to do with where phones go to the EMCC and not the PSB. The loops will also become passenger loops and not goods loops. Most of he work north of Derby is before Duffield. Is this part of the North of Derby journey time improvements? (If that scheme is still on the cards) Or just a like for like renewal? The track work for Derby resignalling only goes as far north as the bridge with the A38 over it.
Yes the platform will be recovered.I noticed on Saturday that the track next to 'Ramsline Halt' had been lifted - are there any plans to remove the platform during the works?

It's part of the bigger scheme rather than a like for like renewal - The new turnout is 40mph and the old was only 25mph (I think). For the scheme to operate as so desired, higher speeds into and out of the loops was required.
On the Up Tamworth a turnout was replaced on the Sunnyhill loops last summer as part of some pre-closure works to de-risk the main works. I'm not sure why the other turnouts on the Sunnyhill loops couldn't be done outside of the partial closure though.

Just to add, the loops are being upgraded from goods to passenger as well which adds to the flexibility of the scheme.
So it is. Tells you how often I looks at that plan. I thought it was just a goods loop?Strangely, though, the loops are being renamed from "Passenger" loops to "Broadholme" loops
I don't think they would be used that much. The Crewe services would likely to be held on the branch for xc services to pass. The other direction it would be at the station as it is now. I think it is more likely for times of disruption they could be used. What passenger services are likely to require looping here? To mind only Derby - Crewe trains would cause conflict issues around North Staffs junction.
It is the current national naming convention to use geographically-specific names. The 'Broadholme loop' can only be in one place, the 'passenger loop' could be almost anywhere.Strangely, though, the loops are being renamed from "Passenger" loops to "Broadholme" loops
Possibly related to the move to ROCs covering very large areas. It is the current national naming convention to use geographically-specific names.
Definitely, yes (and other areas where work takes place, in readiness).Possibly related to the move to ROCs covering very large areas.

The bus operation does seam to be well organised although the replacement bus stop for the local buses is not very well indicated as it is just the markings on the road.Local buses have been displaced from the railway station's bus station, and now drop down/pick-up from a temporary bus stop in front of the 'Waterfall' (was the Railway Institute); where they stopped is now rail replacement pick-up point D5 - used for Burton/Uttoxeter buses - and they are shown as such on the station's main departure board.
Incoming buses drop-off in Midland Road, in front of the Hallmark Inn, in a temporary bus stop; a lollipop man has been provided to escort passengers across Midland Road to the station!
On the station itself, there is still a lot of work to do, but it looks as if it's approaching the end of the work on platform 6/7 as there was a guy busily cleaning the paving at its north end
There was a bit in railengineer magazine about some overnight work being done at other locations, Leicester, Barrow Hill, Central Rivers are mentioned. Is Etches Park Depot continuing to function as normal during the blockade or have arrangements been made to carry out their usual servicing activities elsewhere?

If I’m remembering the same post as you I think it was referring to the Bombardier works having a break.Think I read on the forums somewhere that Etches Park has a planned Summer break for the next two weeks. By which time, I imagine the South end of Derby will be at a stage where access can be restored?
Where are the passengers for the stopping services? I didn't see any during the whole video.Related but may be of interest:-
Oh crap, inbarer clamplocks lets hope the points heating is 100%
Passed over Pride Park bridge on a bus at about 10.30 this morning, and could see a Meridian in platform 7; seemed to be stationary.
Anyone know if the new platform is in use yet?
If all is going to plan on the track installations, and I haven't seen anything to suggest that it isn't, then it should be in use as they'll be ripping out the platform roads soon. Realtime Trains doesn't show a platform number for London services, so probably is in use now.
