Who do you think Manages Leeds Station?

I think it's one of the ones managed by NR.

But the fact you ask makes me wonder if different parts are run by different companies.

network rail manages leeds station, like it manages a lot of other large stations ; kings cross, manchester piccadilly, birmingham new street, edinburgh waverley etc...

I only found out yesterday afternoon, after a rather heated 'discussion' with them about an assisted travel job.

Doesn't mean that manage the station; XC do mobility assistance at BHM but NR manage the station. I was interested at Leeds though how each TOC (except XC) has their own dispatch staff; at BHM before NR took over dispatch all services regardless of TOC were dispatched by Central Trains.

Network Rail and National Rail would seem to disagree with the fact it's managed by Northern.

As far as I know, it is managed by Network Rail whereas Northern run the ticket office, info points and the automatic barriers. East Coast and Northern have their own dispatch teams.

Talking about the management of Leeds City Station, do we really need three "Upper Crusts" ? Would it not be possible to convert one on the concourse to a "Pumpkin" (we currently only have one between platforms 12 and 15). At least they don't have the audacity to charge £1.60 for a small cup of tea!

Doesn't really matter as most people don't know they are run by the same company - Select Service Partners. So it's probably the same sandwich in Pumpkin and Upper Crust and all the other joints there.

Same here, every day I was there, but work was a 10 minute walk away so I got tea for free

I know what you mean, tea at stations (or anywhere these days) is a rip. Started taking my flask with me when I'm bashing.

Indeed - I tend to avoid tea and go for something a little stronger when at leisure, At Leeds, the Subway's quite good for non alcoholic days - tea and crisps £1.49

I think for a time it was cheaper to get a pint at the Weatherspoons than a cup of tea. Although drinking more beer instead of tea doesn't go very well with trying to take pictures of the trains!

Spoons are usually quite good at doing tea and coffee for about a quid.

M&S and BK at stations are also run by SSP. Although I think the McD's at Leeds is 'real'.

It was made quite clear to me that the station is managed by Northern and they don't 'do assistance the same as Network Rail'. Make of that what you will.

Out of interest, back when temporary Leeds Whitehall was going, who managed that? Was it Railtrack or ATN?

this is the northern rail website, simply says NR are the station operator.

So if Northern, state they don't manage Leeds , Network Rail say they do.

My guess is that's it's got summat to do with being platform side of the barriers. It's certainly cheaper to spend a penny that side.
