I don't know how much it costs to take one bag in hold, I've never flown with Easyjet. I live near Horsham so getting to Gatwick is cheap and easy by train, and cycling to Horsham station costs nothing. Buses from the airport to Inverness were around £5 last time I checked. A train from Inverness to Lochluichart costs less than £10. Summed together it is still much cheaper than taking the train all the way.
From Horsham, I'm afraid it's almost a no brainer and I'd fly if price was right. Only downside if camping is that you can't take any gas cannister on board (checked or cabin) , but Inverness has plenty of places to buy them as long as it's not sa very late arrival.
Sure, parts of the train journey are very scenic but the 8 hours alone from London to inv on the chieftain is quite a trebus k, add in getting in and crossing London. Gatwick is easy enough even with the added bag drop time and and it takes about 5 mins to walk from plane steps to bus stop at Inverness, a few more if waiting bags and as has been mentioned bus is cheap and to the bus station in the centre of needed. Probably about a 3-4 hour compared to 12 hour journey........
