They are indeed FLHH, as they are running with Infrastructure Service Codes. I believe they were also hoping to go down the Wolds Coast line, so suspect they are actually preparing for engineering trains.

The following may be of interest, too, which are shown with Colas Engineering Train Service Codes:

The York to Scarborough line has certainly become a lot more interesting lately!

Quite so about the Scarborough line becoming a lot more interesting. Thank you

Quite so about the Scarborough line. I knew Freightliner are involved with the Nova 3 sets, put two and two together and made 68! Thanks for the correction!

Once the MK5a enters service I'm sure the level of information available on available seating and formations etc will be to a higher standard such is the technology available on those units.

True. It wouldn't be completely nonsensical for a train to know and report its formation automatically, as well as reporting things like unavailable toilets and locked doors (both to be fixed and so it goes on the PIS so people can, er, have one beforehand).

Other TOCs around the country manage it no problem. CrossCountry trains have their first class's locations reported at stations at which TPE call as well!

I assure you that Cross Country don't manage! From experience I'd say if you toss a coin to decide which end of the train is which you'd be right about as many times as the announcements are.

If anyone is fed up of light engine TPE 68 pics, just let me know!

Not fed up at all here, keep 'em coming!

Had hoped to get the first (or second) full set cross-pennine run through Batley but was denied for medical reasons. Keeping an eye on RTT for tomorrow's run through Huddersfield...

Saw one in a bay platform at York on Friday evening. Was disappointed it didn't have any Mk5s attached, I still haven't seen them in the flesh!
If it’s any help, it was 68023 in York on Friday evening. The full sets are quite a treat, especially under the roof at York!

Thank you for that, greatly appreciate. Good luck with getting the full set tomorrow.

Yes thanks for the link. There were a few blokes on laptops in the last carriage. Saw at least 4 other TP 68’s stabled around York too.

When are passenger services planned to start?

It's been pushed back to April/May time roughly - I believe two sets will enter into service initially.

One of the 68's was relaxing between runs at Scarborough on Friday morning, with two in the bay at York when I came through late yesterday evening:

That's not at all my experience — I have encountered them being wrong a few times but it's generally much more successful than a toin coss would be...

Out and back to Scarborough again today testing the DTs ability to activate track circuits on the other line. Needed to f
Go via Ordsall curve to make the 68 lead there and then to keep the DT south facing coming back to MID. Set 9 continues with Carlisle Bletchleys rest of the week. Set 1 us doing a Wed-fri night run from MID-Crewe-Runcorn-Liverpool and the 397 is doing a Crewe Carlisle on Thursday Friday. Testing ramping up now.

Guessing the 397 runs are these ones?

I noted a set at Crewe Carriage Sidings today, along with 68022 shunting some of the old Pretendolino set. Presumably this 68 and Mk 5A set are doing the WCML testing?

Its those mileage accumulation runs which are the key. I see today's southbound run from Carlisle was caped at Crewe again.

Cracking set of images. I particularly like the one of 68023 through the window. Thank you as always for the info.

It was 397003 on the Carriage Sidings today having an instrumented pantograph fitted ready for testing Thursday. Should be testing Mon - Fri next week as well with 125mph running Tuesday onwards if all goes to plan.

Ah, marvellous, thanks for confirming - I only saw it between other carriages hence why I must have misidentified!
