thanksThe T4
Newtowm. Just left the run at Merthyr.Passed one of the new Stagecoach Volvos heading northbound between Brecon and home this morning. I believe it was on the way to intercept the 40th anniversary road run at some point.
The first bus I've seen with both TrawsCymru and Transport for Wales logos! what's with the different coloured TrawsCymru logo on the front though...?
Thanks for sharing that shot. Doesn't look too bad a bus but the proof of the pudding is in the eating so I won't judge until I have had a ride on one.
Have you a link for it?Lloyds Coaches YJ65EUN was also present. A picture on Facebook shows it showing a T4 blind
Many thanks: have had a look and applied to join the group. Meanwhile please could I share that image to the "South West and Wales Bus Enthusiasts" group on FB? Credit will be given to you but I will not share if you do not wish me too. It’s on the North & Mid Wales bus and coach heritage and current route Facebook Group. The driver on duty shared some photos
A lot of feedback about it featuring the Union Jack which dosent include a Welsh connection! Also they call it a coach and a bus in the same paragraph!
This week is 40 years since the first Traws Cambria service started, a celebration run will take place on 22nd June details on this web page:

I hate to ruin all the conspiracy theories but the route of the run was dictated by having to start somewhere near where the Royal Blue service to Liverpool finished which was what the procession had followed the day before. As Bangor is nearly half a days run by vintage coach from Liverpool, running the 702 route was a good second choice, dropping onto the original route at Newtown. We didn't go into Montgomery (even me and I did several unauthorized diversions!) and the intended route exactly matched the old 702 as far as possible other than where following it would have resulted in conversations with the local police force.Missed all the fun. The first TrawsCambria route (700) was introduced in 1979 from Bangor to Cardiff, and Liverpool to Cardiff (702) followed in Spring 1980. Looks more like a bit of publicity for the new T12 route which is underperforming. The timings for the procession of vintage buses between Wrexham and Newtown match those for the T12 and it would be interesting to know if the procession made the same diversions as the T12 notably through Montgomery. It would be interesting to find the old 702 Liverpool to Cardiff route to see how it matched with the procession route The T12 is an excellent scenic route. I used it on Friday 30th May from Machynleth to Wrexham (Electronic timetables now in use at bus stops in Machynleth). There was never more than 9 people on board. Total journey time was 3 hours 24 minutes.and the diversion to Montgomery was a total waste of time (No passengers on or off).
An article titled “”I rode the secret TrawsCymru bus route”” in “Bus And Train User” by Roger French on February 11, 2019 made similar observations regarding the T12 route. The Welsh Government may have decided to base the procession on the Liverpool to Cardiff instead of Bangor to Cardiff route in the hope that they could improve passenger numbers on the T12 route.

The 702 and the procession went to Ruabon (as the bypass didn't exist in 1979) but not the station (I suspect British Rail would have objected to the licence if it had). The run itself (http://www.tvagwot.org.uk/event-royalblue2019.htm) carried on the next day from Merthyr to Treherbert then Cheltenham via as many hills as it could find. Thanks for the info. I was not aware that you had done a trip the day before. You must have been exhausted by the time you got to Merthyr . The published procession route indicates a diversion to Ruabon (presumably the rail station) which the T12 does not do (goes direct from Chirk to Wrexham). So the similarity in times between Wrexham and Newtown may be due to the Ruabon diversion for the procession and the Montgomery diversion for the T12. Did the old 702 route go via Ruabon station .Ruabon station is another favourite Trawscymru topic . The T3 could go direct between Llangollen and Wrexham but the Welsh Government insist that it must visit Ruabon station . In 23 trips on the T3 I have yet to see a passenger get on or off at Ruabon station, which makes one wonder why the insistence on retaining this diversion and the exploration of through ticketing for the T3/rail at Ruabon.
.
Including the Rhigos road (Treherbert - Aberdare) no doubt which is one of my favourite roads in South Wales.[.....] via as many hills as it could find.

Yes it did on the service i used. 10 minute connection time. It may also have Quality Partnership Agreement to delay departures by 5 minutes to wait for late services (as in Dolgellau for T2/T3 ).Does anyone know if the T12 connects into the T4 at Newtown and will it wait if the T12 runs late?
According to Bus Lists on the Web, the second one is YW19 VUE.A video on the Facebook page of Lloyds Coaches shows 2x Enviro200 MMC they have had delivered for Traws Cymru service T12. One of the is YW19 VUF but I can't see in the clip what the registration of the other one is.

Hansh has posted a video of the whole journey from Cardiff to Bangor on T1C and T2 in just under 8 minutes:
Plus the whole thing in real time if you have nearly seven hours to spare…
Anyone know what the reliability on the T4 is like, i want to do the journey Cardiff-Liverpool on most of the old TrawsCambria route 702 as possible, start on the 08.05, T4 from Cardiff, but only have just under 15 minute interchange at Newtown with the T12. I plan to do the journey on a Thursday maybe a couple of weeks. Journey i'm planning is
08.05, T1 Cardiff-Newtown
12.05, T12, Newtown-Wrexham
1 Wrexham-Chester
X8 Chester-Liverpool
I notice there's a Powys Day Rover ticket, i don't think it's valid on the T12 north of Oswestry.
15 minutes should be plenty. My journeys on the T4 have usually been on or close to time and theres some recovery time at Brecon/Llandrindod. If you did the journey on a Saturday the Traws bit would be free!Anyone know what the reliability on the T4 is like, i want to do the journey Cardiff-Liverpool on most of the old TrawsCambria route 702 as possible, start on the 08.05, T4 from Cardiff, but only have just under 15 minute interchange at Newtown with the T12. thanksThe T4 Tempos went back to Powys CC and were sold at auction. One of the 62 plates is for sale on EBay by a Staffordshire dealer but you can’t tell which one from the photograph.
