Saturdays its booked to be 2 x 220 infact the ECS 5E42 from Barton is 13 cars 5 x 221 detach for 1E42 Newcastle and 8 work 1H17. The reason is to get a double on 1012 to Bournmoth.
When was this introduced as hen I used it at the start of June and mid April it was a single set to Manchester? Maybe I just happened to get it on days it was short formed before?
Also I am certain one of the units was a 5 car 221.

Since the May TT change, however if there is a shortage of units and a double can't be run then the next best thing is a 5 car.

A "double" left Manchester Piccadilly on the 21:27 to Birmingham last Monday, however the rear set was out of use. You don't need 9-car even in London at that time of night on a Monday. Friday or Saturday may be a different matter, however, especially if there's an event on locally.

I suspect it may simply have been done that way as a matter of convenience to get the stock in the right place, or simply because the 'diagram' had to be strengthened for other services it formed earlier in the day.

True. I'm rarely/almost never in Piccadilly at that time so it may be a regular occurrence.

Usually the rear set is not in service. It’s to safe time adding another service.

It’s 1545 Bournemouth-2026 Manchester and 1654 Exeter-2059 Manchester which couples up at picc. It’s the set from ex Exeter leading and expected Bournemouth set is ecs movement.

that’s actually booked to be. So no surprise there.
Though it hasn't been in practice for at least the last couple of weeks, so a bit of a turn up for the books.

I'll probably aim for that one this evening then, as long as the train service through New Street doesn't throw a wobbler again later.

I see I didn’t know. 1747 for 1757 departure. 2005 man-bhm. This brings 0730 BhM-ncl as well. 12 cars combination.

13:25 Plymouth to Edinburgh should be 8 according to Journey Check but never seems to be in reality!

It should be two Voyagers but the stock comes from two locations which makes it a bit unreliable.

5G46 0432 Tyne S.S. to York which didn't run this morning and 5V46 0517 Crofton Depot to York which did.

The second Voyager comes off at Newcastle and goes to Tyne Yard so you can see that if it doesn't run as a pair one day it won't the next and so on.

No wonder it's constantly on Journey Check! Thanks for the clarification.

What's with the 13:25 and 14:25 from Plymouth? Are they both booked double? Journey Check is saying that the 13:25 is 8 but the 14:25 is only 4 today.

The 1325 is normally a HST on Thursday's. The double set then falls back an hour for the 1425. Journey check is now showing the 1325 as a HST formation.

Does anybody have a list, or a link to a site with the Double allocation post-15 Dec? No point worrying about before given only days to run until the TT change.

07:27 Plymouth to Edinburgh seems to be 9-car today - is this usual or a one-off because of disruption?

Sorry to bump up the thread everyone but is the 10:23 XC service from Edinburgh to Glasgow Central booked for a double Voyager on Sundays? Was looking at JourneyCheck and found it formed of 9 coaches.

I don't care if its 8, 9 or 10 coaches. If it is then I might do Glasgow on the Sunday 19th April (instead of the 20th) in a few months time. That way I know the 10:23 starts in Edinburgh. I know a single Voyager working can happen but either way at least I've a good chance of getting a seat if not my booked one.
