What's the point in internally refreshing & repainting 150s at the moment? I'd hardly say it's a priority right now, and if a significant number of Pacers are withdrawn in January, TfW surely won't be able to afford to send 150s away for unnecessary domestic interior work.
Just stick on the TfW logo and signage over the current turquoise livery (like they did with the Mk 3 carriages) and be done with it.
Agreed. I have a feeling it was part of the franchise agreement, and likely contracts were signed to get them done. No doubt there will be a penalty to pay but hopefully with the looming WG involvement someone will have the common sense to say TfW can't afford to have a unit out of service for unnecessary works given the current fleet situation. Passengers were promised nearly 2 years ago that the Pacers would be gone and they are still stuck with them. I'm sure they'll cope with a turquoise paint job and still fairly decent interior on the 150s for another year or two. In the current situation, every unit counts.
158818 is due out this week. I'm sure all the 158s were complete when 158819 went in, but 2 more have been in since. Whats the latest with these or are they having different works?

158819 was the last one to be repainted. They are now getting a refreshed interior, the last few in ATW livery, 819 included were refreshed and repainted at the same time.
Theres still 16 158s left with ATW interior (823-830/832/834/836-841)
Ah! That makes sense. Well, it would've made more sense to get the interior done the same time as the repaint. But explains why they are still going in. Thanks.

It's not just the fact of having the 36 x 150s out of service for extended periods for the second time in 2 years. It's also the (in my opinion) unnecessary expense of getting the 150s done, when the franchise is effectively skint. The 150s weren't left in the terrible condition internally by Arriva that the 175s were, which did need refreshing internally. The franchise agreement signed two years ago with Keolis Amey is now effectively null and void. I doubt TfW will impose a fine on themselves for not spending a few thousand pounds they haven't got replacing seat coverings just for the sake of it.
Although saying all of this, it won't surprise me in the slightest if the 150s are refreshed & repainted at some point next year.

There will be 2 x 150s in at one time and fleet numbers take into account absences for this type of work. As has been said already, there are franchise commitments and contracts and all TOCs, even if delayed in some cases, should be carrying their livery. Another point is that all units have to be re-painted after certain periods of time.
The 170s are basically already done externally. I've no idea when the new interior will come around, or if/when the red 'swoops' will be added around the cabs.
Ditto the 150s - COVID-19 has basically derailed every timetable of refurbishments.
Now that the WG has taken TfW in house, I'd expect appearances of rolling stock to be taking a back seat when a pandemic is occurrin'.

This still plays an integral part in the pandemic - the main concern nowadays for passengers is the cleanliness of trains, and the state of the ex-ATW stock in particular doesn’t show any favour to this I’m afraid. At least with the interior refurbishment the trains are given a deep clean and interior that is suitable to today’s standards.
You say 'Non-compliant units renumbered 153/9' but then list 313, 314, 318, 321, 322 and 326 with their original numbers. Have those units been PRMed, or are they awaiting renumbering?
Any reason why 158821 is listed as having a "TfW Rail W&B interior" while the other refurbished units are described as "TfW Rail refurb interior"? Is there a difference in the interior spec of that unit?
Also, and I realise this is very minor pedantic point, you may want to fix the formating on 158834 next time you update the list, the 'r' at the end of 'interior' is randomly in turquoise instead of red. Or is that indicating parts of the ATW interior were missed during the refurb, or that this unit is currently stopped for refurbishment?

170s i recon might see it in a few years just before redeployment west the 150s no real point now they got 2-3 years left and it would take most that to do personally i would just put some wales and borders stickers on them like the 153s
Thanks guys, will update accordingly. I don’t work for the company so literally just go off what’s posted on here. And I thought I’d added /9 to the 153s but then forgot half way through!!
the list has changed hands many times over the life of this thread so there are some minor wording differences which I will amend
