Don't know if anyone has mentioned but it is now called "clap for heroes" based on what I've heard on TalkRadio. A bit nauseating, isn't it?
I think your opinion is rather uncaring and unnecessarily insulting to the work of all the doctors, nurses and other staff who have had a terrible year. I understand the reasoning and I won't be going out to clap on Friday but is saying all this necessary?Clap for an institution that is messing up our freedoms, jobs, and everything else. An institution that had all summer to beef things up. And did diddly squat, apart from the TikToks. An institution that was and still is actively telling people to stay away. Nope. Might give it a boo or two though.
It wasn’t aimed at the front line workers. More the management, the institute itself and the NHS procurement (this especially).I think your opinion is rather uncaring and unnecessarily insulting to the work of all the doctors, nurses and other staff who have had a terrible year. I understand the reasoning and I won't be going out to clap on Friday but is saying all this necessary?
I’m sure doctors, nurses and other key workers are greatly affected by a comment on a train fourm.I think your opinion is rather uncaring and unnecessarily insulting to the work of all the doctors, nurses and other staff who have had a terrible year. I understand the reasoning and I won't be going out to clap on Friday but is saying all this necessary?
100%. Same with face coveringsPsychological nonsense. Behavioural science in action.

That’s what the “organiser” said on Twitter. The replies to it are a thing of beautyI was sent a text today in which it said the organisers stated......
"We are bringing back the 8pm applause, in our 3rd lockdown I hope it can lift the spirit, of all of us. Carers teacher, homeschooling parents, those who shield and ALL who is pushing through this difficult time! Please join & share!"
#clapforheroes
lol notice the bbc article makes no mention of this. That’s what the “organiser” said on Twitter. The replies to it are a thing of beauty
What about "Cash For Carers/Heroes", but then again I wonder how many carers/heroes are mates with high up conservative party members?
The comments on that article were very much the same!lol notice the bbc article makes no mention of this.
Lockdown: Clap for Carers to return as Clap for Heroes https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-55561108
It's for middle class people to feel self-righteously good about "doing something" when they're doing f all of any consequence.
Nothing quite like being a little class warrior is there? It's for middle class people to feel self-righteously good about "doing something" when they're doing f all of any consequence. They can also subtly shame their non-conformist neighbours who are sensible enough to see through the stupid charade. I hate it.

More seriously, some vacuous woman thinks she's in charge of this whole charade. The ultimate in virtue signalling.
I don't think it's a class thing, though. Virtue signalling is the best way of describing it, with the smug self satisfaction some seem to get from that explaining the "looking down" you mention.I do pick up a scent of looking down with it. It’s a pretty good bet that few NHS staff would label themselves as heroes, and don’t need to be patronised and debased by having such a puerile label applied on to them.

The lady who started it I think wanted it stopped after 10 weeks. Nice idea, but that was enough
Whilst conveniently ignoring that stepping outside your home without reasonable excuse AND congregating in groups of 2 or more is strictly verboten in 2021 Britain.Oh lovely, I imagine most people won't do it as it'll be dark and if you can't be seen clapping what is the point?....
I look forward to our passive aggressive neighbourhood facebook group subtly questioning where everybody was and roll calling those brave souls who stepped out to calp
I still sit by my promise that on the day Boris heads back to the palace (which I think is highly likely to be this year), I intend to be at the road-side somewhere rubbing it in.
Lets hope the Queen has the sword nicely sharpened thenI still sit by my promise that on the day Boris heads back to the palace (which I think is highly likely to be this year), I intend to be at the road-side somewhere rubbing it in.

Name & shame the covidiots on their own Facebook feeds, I say !!!
<kidding>
Well it is legal but I think it is very irresponsible.Groups of more than 2. Two is fine.
But now she's starting it again. I don't doubt the intention was well meant, but it's really not going down well. The lady who started it I think wanted it stopped after 10 weeks. Nice idea, but that was enough
