Just the cascaded EMR 156s and WMT 323s to be refurbished next and any other units in the near future but if northern are after more CAF units, could start seeing some of the old order starting to disappear.
I can't see the cascaded 323 refurb being much beyond the interior repaint plus presumably new vinyls and seat covers. Everything else has already been done under WMT.Just the cascaded EMR 156s and WMT 323s to be refurbished next and any other units in the near future but if northern are after more CAF units, could start seeing some of the old order starting to disappear.
They’re not being replaced at EMR and will still be required due to the delayed transfer of the Liverpool routeAny word as to whether the EMR 158s will move to Northern?
The 323s will be repainted, here's a pic of 234 rubbed down before being repainted into northern colours.I can't see the cascaded 323 refurb being much beyond the interior repaint plus presumably new vinyls and seat covers. Everything else has already been done under WMT.
Fair enoughThe 323s will be repainted, here's a pic of 234 rubbed down before being repainted into northern colours.
Credit to Anthony.
They are being replaced - a replacement just hasn’t been confirmed yet. Also the route is staying with EMR, there’s no “transfer delay”.They’re not being replaced at EMR and will still be required due to the delayed transfer of the Liverpool route

Are the EMR 156s going to replace the 153s or provide for service or allow more trains to run as double units?Just the cascaded EMR 156s and WMT 323s to be refurbished next and any other units in the near future but if northern are after more CAF units, could start seeing some of the old order starting to disappear.
Yes they are replacing the 153sAre the EMR 156s going to replace the 153s or provide for service or allow more trains to run as double units?
Thank you for the confirmation. While I admit I don't know which routes tend to be 153, I realise that these 156s are likely to interwork with existing 156s anyway.Yes they are replacing the 153s
I’m not so sure about the 156/9s. If they can’t work with EMRs 156/4s then I assume they won’t be able to work with Northern’s 156/4s?Thank you for the confirmation. While I admit I don't know which routes tend to be 153, I realise that these 156s are likely to interwork with existing 156s anyway.

Ah fair enough. I assume they’ll all be Newton Heath based? They're booked an overhaul to Northern's standards, theoretically this year.
