I hadn't heard of that. Thanks for the update. :D

315809 will be the last LO unit left I think as all the others are either scrapped or are in the scrap line I believe.

Do you know which part of the works it is stored in? As I'd love to get a photo of it, as it's one I've not managed to photograph! ;)
Unfortunately it is well hidden and not in a publicly visible area.

I wonder if Wolverton will dismantle it or wether it may be towed out for scrapping?

How come it ended up at Wolverton when others went for scrap long ago?

Or has it been earmarked for preservation? The 315 preservation society are after one, could it be 809?
Any idea what condition it is in?

Even if 809 is in good condition, it has modified headlights so wouldn't be an ideal candidate for preservation. I think it has been used for some trials or other at Wolverton (can't remember what now).

If, and it's a big if, a 315 is preserved I can't see it being anything other than one of the remaining TfL Rail ones.

As far as I know, 809 hasn't been Worked on, Auxed on or even split since it arrived.

Not taking a unit simply because it has the “wrong” headlights is not how preservation works. If it is the unit in the best overall condition then that is the one to take. “Right” headlights can be recovered from a different unit for refitting at a later date if deemed essential.

Overall condition (should) trump(s) anything else every single time, unless there is an extremely compelling reason to do anything else.

If a 315 is saved, it will be one of those remaining with TfL Rail and not 809. Some of the surviving examples in service have been overhauled relatively recently and are very well kept by TfL Rail, while 809 is nearing a year in storage. The fact all 16 retain their original headlights is a significant bonus.

Now officially confirmed that 315809 is still fully intact. Pics have emerged of it still stored at Wolverton Works

All the remaining 315’s will all be removed from service by September 2021. I am not sure how long they will last after 15 May 2021.

Thanks for the update. I thought that it was game over at close of play on May 14th. I've booked Brentwood Premier Inn that week although it appears that hotels won't open until the following week. Doh!

If it does get preserved, I’m rather glad it will be one with the ”Electrostar eyes”. In my view, 313201 will suffice for an example of the original headlights. But maybe that’s just me!

Hi everyone, I'm new to the forum.
May I ask is there any website could track Class 315 trains in Shenfield Metro?

I searched for some websites such as realtimetrains.co.uk, and it only come up with the headcode and other basic info.
Thanks everyone.

There isn't any such website where Class 315s can be tracked. Observations of the units operating are sometimes reported by correspondents local to the line on the 'ukmodernemu' group, https://groups.io/g/ukmodernemu, in particular if the units cover daytime workings in place of 345s.

There's Raildar that gives a map location for the units based on the RTT live updates, but that won't yet ID specific units.
