I picked up a Deltic for £2.39 in lovely streamlined livery:

Also, AP has released a fix for the Class 40 which exhibited looping sounds when TS was run in 64 bit mode

Ah cool - is it any good?

Again - good to see. AP seem to be very much on-the-ball with things like this.

Looks like the Cross City Line and class 323 will be coming to Train Simulator. Someone on the Alan Thomson Facebook group has found the list of achievements in the latest TS update.

I went into the shop and purchased the following at knockdown prices Doncaster 08, locks like a game from the Krypton factor, the Goblin line not bad, and the GE main line which i can play for hours. It isn't because i like that one so much. it is the fact that nothing moves when i put the power on!!!!

Is there something i am not doing correctly?

I might add that i am unable to run any of the scenarios!!

It is the GEML LOndon-Ipawich ( although should be ipswich to London) Class 360
All the programmes load and run as trains rrive and the clock works
After boarding i apply power and move the controller to post 1/2/3

Just sits there doing nothing any clues why?

Doh!!!! yep Pan is up, ( made sure by looking along the train using that helicopter icon) All sorted out and zipping along when the emergency brake goes on!

Ahh i though it is the old DSD that is on a Southern route i have, so Cntl+D to disabled but no notification pops up in the top RH corner

Get rid of one niggle and another pops up

The line speed is 100 , and it happened about 3mins into the run but i did notice that there is 50 restriction as you leave the station and no change to 100 even though
the speedo shows 100max So second time i kept it under 50 and the same thing happens.all signals were green. is there a a safety deice key i have to press?

I'm guessing there was an AWS alert about the upcoming speed limit reduction you failed to acknowledge, to the emergency grake setting was set in?

Fingers crossed but i think i might have cracked it. On this batch of routes it seems that i have to hit Q for every light!!! ( Unlike some others where i only have to acknowledge cautions aspects, like the southern areas and ECML others are avaialble)

I was that surprised at finding this out i overshot the Kelvendon stop!!!

Are you on a Quick Drive or scenario? What’s your starting point and destination?

I’ll try it later when I get a chance

This line?

You don’t have to press Q for every signal aspect, just the cautionary ones.
The 360 is a very old model and isn’t the best. If I were you, I’d look at purchasing something like the 321 or 90, and get the associated Armstrong Powerhouse Enhancement Packs.

Out of interest, has anyone else encountered this error in the route "Riviera Line in the Fifties"?
I start a quick drive scenario from Kingswear towards Exeter St David's, but at Dawlish Warren the train is directed onto the loop and meets a red signal. After waiting there for an hour, the signal hasn't changed.

Not got the route but the 'random red signal' can happen occasionally. I have had it on some scenarios including one I have made myself and it is just a case of checking the route and if clear pressing TAB to pass at danger.

The red signal bug seems to happen to me most often if I load a save on a scenario. Rather frustrating when doing some of the longer scenarios, as I don't always have the time to complete them in one sitting, but this bug makes it rather hit-and-miss if a save will allow me to finish later or if the red signal bug makes it impossible.

I’ll try replaying it from the start.

I've taken advantage of the spring sale to nab the Trent Valley route on the cheap. Why's it so exciting to drive your local route that you've travelled along so much?

Anyway, I think there's a few more days of the sale left so might grab another one or 2 add ons. I've been eyeing up the York Peterborough add on as, although it's an old add on now, I do love the ECML. However, it's got some right mixed reviews on steam so was wondering what you guys thought of it?

Also, open to any recommendations for DLC that is currently below a tenner in the sale :)

I’d get WCML Over Shap if you haven’t already. Really lovely route. And Settle to Carlisle - not a great route itself but you get loads for your money and quite a bit of other DLC requires it.

I don't think York to Peterborough is bad at all. I think much of the angst against it does come from being an older route and in particular the track and textures, it's something I can easily look beyond if I want a blast on the ECML. It's also obviously needed for the ECML merge as well which is becoming increasingly popular.

It's always worth delving in to exactly what you get from your money as well, especially if you don't own a great deal of addons. If you buy the route you also get:

European Loco & Asset Pack (Needed for many free routes)
Class 91 (AP Enhancement Pack requires it)
EWS Class 66 V2.0 (Again, AP Enhancement Pack requires it)
Old Class 158 Pack (Not particularly useful these days)

So for a tenner, there is a lot of bang for the buck if you don't have these other items.

It's also a requirement for my North East England route, just saying.

WCML over Shap is one I already have and love it! S&C is one to look at - as you say it does seem to pop up as a requirement for other DLC and it's a route that is hard not to love

Track and textures does seem to be quite a complaint. TS is a tough battle for my laptop anyway so doubt I'm getting the most out of graphics compared to those who have high powered gaming machines! If that's the key issue, it probably won't affect my enjoyment of the game

Yeah I do try and look at what you get with it. I think the Euro Loco pack is one that comes with a lot of add ons but the other 3 you mention are missing from my collection (I think!) Without the sale you'd probably be paying a tenner for the 91 on its own so that in itself makes it worthwhile

Thanks for the advice :)
What is this NE route you talk of? I've got the Newcastle to Edinburgh one from Just Trains which is pretty decent

Indeed, it's a great way to build the collection further at little extra cost. I always found the 91 quite usable in it's own right as well but the AP pack does take it to another level as you would expect.

My North East England route is available here, although it possibly requires things you don't yet own. The current release includes the ECML from York to Darlington, Durham Coast Line as far as Hartlepool, Tees Valley Line from Bishop Auckland to Middlesbrough and the section on to Nunthorpe. The next version is also in the works and hopefully shouldn't be too far away.

Wow, you've built that yourself?
I am missing some of the DLC but all 3 I'm missing are on offer it would seem so might look into all of those when I get home later :)

I did. I've had plenty of practice though, i've been building routes both commercially and free for over 13 years. You've no doubt already driven routes that i've either built, had a hand in building or contributed to in some form.

Once you've had anough of driving scenarios i'd encourage you to have a crack at it yourself.
