I heard on Facebook that Lothian Country are apparently getting 5 B5TL Enviro400 MMC's, does anyone know if this is true or just a rumour?
Rumour. Also is this coming from the same person that also posted that the 4 incoming BYD electric E400’s were due for LCB too??

I just noticed the N124 is returning but the N106 hasn’t yet. Not even a part route run to Haddington? Are the runs on the X7/104 that low?

I'm unsure, like I said it's from what I heard.
Never have been and at this time never will be for Lothian Country.

Give the newsworthy and new products to a lower performing subsidiary miles away from full engineering without full testing etc? Not a chance.

They may visit, but it's not permanent at this time. The hope is that electric won't be the future, but rather synthetic fuels.

Perhaps there should be a rule implemented that unsubstantiated claims without any attribution or origin of source shouldn't be posted. These outlandish claims are getting a bit ridiculous now.

Said person isn't the most reliable of sources. They said a while back FSE were getting 19 new E200MMCs...

I would disagree on the basis that it could end up just preventing good discussion. The best way to deal with outlandish claims is to disprove them.

Agreed, if there’s a valid and trustworthy source for me that should preferably be quoted as well otherwise I could easily just say that 50 XLB’s are due and that then becomes a rumour? Just to be clear that is made up.

It’s just the constant is this happening/is this true etc from a small number of users. I have no issue with what’s being posted, it’s the frequency that questions are being asked and then one I find really annoying is when things get asked more than once. 1029 being the worst of those examples.

I totally understand that there’s rules etc but this thread is one of the worst on the website for clutter, repetitive chat and the admins constantly have to intervene with things. Yes that is something they are here to do but shouldn’t have to be happening as often as is. They’ve got whole sections to be dealing with not just this thread.

It’s just at times if one question is asked then another is asked at the back of it, there’s never an end to anything. I can’t be the only one here who’s fed up with it.

We should be talking about positive things like service increases, tours coming back, more shifts being available for staff again and it’s a shame that this silly stuff is ruining it.

Apologies in advance to the admins if I shouldn’t be posting this here. It’s just really frustrating now <(

Alot of them can be disproven with 'we work for Lothian, that's nonsense' but it could potentially putting the poster in a compromising position confirming or denying something either way. Obviously inappropriate to provide internal sources or information.

Any rumours or claims made here should have a reference to the source, and I would caution against using Facebook as a source, particularly if it's from a private group on that platform. It's really no different to "a guy down the pub told me" and there's no way for us to verify if there's any truth to the rumours. I have no inclination to join any private groups to check, either. If you are going to say "I heard on Facebook..." then please make sure that you make it clear that your information is from an unofficial source (and that it probably should be taken with a catering-sized pack of salt!)

We receive regular reports from people who are getting a bit fed up with all the speculation. I don't think we should be shutting down any debate, and we cannot remove posts unless there has been a specific rule breach. I would urge people to pause for a moment or two and consider that the information you hear as rumour is probably not the same piece of information as when it started out! ;)

I see that 171-175 are at Marine and Seafield. Are they getting ready for service or getting withdrawn?

Yes, the claims about 1029 returning to service after its decapitation at Fauldhouse and the constant claims about the 276 actually being the X17 in disguise both spring to mind here. Both of which have turned out to be a load of mince.

With withdrawals of the B9s now well underway, here's a reminder of the first one to go - the ill-fated 390. The circumstances regarding its fiery demise at the hands of a vandal after just 29 months in service have been well documented on here.

I took this photo at the end of July 2011, when 390 was just a few weeks old - little did I realise how significant it would turn out to be just under two-and-a-half years later!

If the £1m went solely on these 6 buses just to be gathering dust at the depot then that is a scandalous waste of hard earned public money. Was due diligence not done on this before the order was made? There are public services crying out for a million pounds worth of investment.

Bus company embarks on joint investment with the Scottish government into trialling a small number of electric vehicles. Subsequently the vehicles fall far short of requirements and the manufacturer enters administration precluding any possible rectification.

Two sides of every coin ;) (I'm not saying that the Streetair was ever a good prospect to begin with though!)
