Nowhere near enough to a Pacer :(
Changing the subject slightly. Is there any rhyme or reason to the allocation of of a large chunk of the Lothian country hybrids to the x 18? Seems a bit bizarre given how much fast running this route has compared to to other services and so therefore more time spent on diesel and these are also speed limited not that this is a huge problem at most times I shouldn't think

Or is it simply a way of giving these truly terrible hybrid products a good run for their money for battery conditioning and maintenance purposes before being stuck back on a local diagram later in the day? I've never actually paid any attention to how many round trips they do before being swapped out

Some of them have roller blinds do I don't see how they could be used at Lothian Country without paper destination labels.

Never mind, I have just been informed by @Bus9120UK that they have Lothian Country legals.

They have LCB legals and LED displays. Would suggest they've not been moved from storage, to Longstone for work, and then storage at Livingston?

This has just been added to Lothian's Facebook page:
Capital’s first fully electric double decker buses arrive in Edinburgh
⚡️ We're delighted to announce that today marks the official launch of Edinburgh’s first fully electric double decker buses, thanks to major funding from SP Energy Networks working in partnership with Lothian.

The £1.7million project was funded as a flagship project of SP Energy Networks’ £20million Green Economy Fund to enable Edinburgh to take a major step in its journey towards the city becoming Net Zero by 2030.

These buses will bring immediate benefits to the city and the communities in which they operate, helping improve the city’s air quality and delivering multiple health benefits.

Lothian’s four brand new all-electric double decker buses – built by Alexander Dennis Limited (Britain’s biggest bus builder) at its Falkirk factory - will be introduced onto Service 10, which connects outlying parts of the city, Western Harbour and Bonaly with Edinburgh’s city centre.

Just seen this and it says Lothian had scrapped 15 hybrid buses.Only ones I knew about was the electric buses that are in storage.
Remember to add a quote from the article as well as a link, please.

I wonder if some of the 201-215 Enviro 400s will move to Longstone to replace the remaining Geminis.

Its poorly written out. The 15 Hybrid buses were converted to diesel and not scrapped.

Poor writing from the Edinburgh Evening News? Well I never!
I guess the concept of Hybrid was scrapped if you want to think about it that way, if you get what I mean?

Also, I've read a lot on Edinburgh Evening News, what's their problem with Lothian Buses?

I noticed that 582 today has a nearside fleet number today which it didn’t have yesterday. Presumably the rest of the fleet are to follow too.

Probably not. I'd hazard a guess at the ones displaced from the 10 moving to the 24 whereas the current ones not on the 10 currently run.

I saw it yesterday on the 33 and it had the near side fleet number but I don’t think it had one last week. Presumably has had maintenance in that area so has been added in at the same time.

A Lothian tweet some people will be interested with: https://twitter.com/on_lothianbuses/status/1408382014601011203
We have 6 fully electric single deck vehicles within the fleet. With technology advancing at pace, these are undergoing an essential upgrade and whilst we are minded to the potential delays caused by COVID-19 restrictions, we intend that they will be in service in the future.
It's good to see that they'll be coming back soon.

It's good to see that the StreetAirs are going to be returning at some point instead of being left sitting around a depot doing nothing.

It will be good to see them return, eventually! I wonder what depot they will return to. The PVR for the 36 is 6 buses :p I’ll just leave that there.

That would then require the fleet to have 100% availability at all times which is unrealistic. You'd need 5 in service with 1 on maintenance at the very least.

It could have been better worded - but it's an important point - for all the talk of these exciting/ swanky new buses with amazing technologies, do they last?

There was a lot of "buzz" down here when Stagecoach invested in two batches of E400Hs, a green livery for these hybrid buses to show that these weren't ordinary buses, a lot of attention was paid to them... then a few years later they were repainted in standard "beachball" and the "hybrid" element removed - they carry on as conventional diesel buses... but in the future I'm sure there'll be another "bionic duckweed" and we'll have a lot of fuss about how transformational the new buses will be

Great news that Lothian Buses are getting these new vehicles for the 10 but we've had a few dead ends over the years, where things haven't turned out to be the Great Leap Forward that we were promised (and some taxpayers might be wondering how many times they'll have to pay over the odds to subsidise some new technology that turns out to be a flop)
