Has anyone seen the lumo YouTube channel. Looks like they’ve employed some bored children to produce them.
Actually I take that back, some bored children would have done a much much better job!

Maybe the trainee drivers did it? There's probably something in their contract about doing video editing when not allocated work, hidden amongst everything else... <D

I think that channel has definitely been produced by bored children and has nothing to do with the company!

That new Lumo channel on Youtube has to be a joke! I have already found multiple spelling and grammatical errors! If that is their official channel than god help us!

"cheap price's"

"east cost mainline"

"london's kings cross"

"travel in cumfort"

"welcome to our chanel'

"where we serve our trains"

It is probably some ten year old kid sat in their bedroom making videos and pretending to be an official Lumo account.

The amusing thing is that because Lumo don't appear to have a genuine YouTube account, you can't report the kid's account for impersonation :p

It is, as you may have guessed, nothing to do with the company, and most likely made by a slightly over-enthusiastic 'enthusiast'.

That is what i thought. Good to see some confirmation coming from them. You would think if they are trying to impersonate a company they would at least make some effort to get their spelling and grammar correct. I have not seen it for a while but i remember there used to be a lot of Twitter accounts impersonating TOCs and giving railway information. They used to increase during the school holidays too so i am guessing they were run by kids as well.

I am sure companies can probably report accounts that are impersonating them on Youtube without having an account themselves. Anyway i imagine that Lumo will probably create a Youtube account soon. It seems to be the latest trend for companies to use as much social media platforms as possible.

Anyone else notice how slow the website is, also the LNER fares are cheaper looking out to Nov. Its not been a very positive experience so far...

Why would they have a YouTube account? Most companies getting video made for social media these days get it all made square. YouTube doesn't get a look-in

I imagined that most companies would consider it prudent to at least establish a placeholder account on most social media services, to cut down on the number of potential issues like this.

Indeed, if competent. I was quite interested to discover that the organisation I'm working for at the moment has registered a huge swathe of domain names, including stuff like <business name>sucks.co.uk, to prevent others getting it - it was at least a few hundred.

It is disappointing that a company is expecting to upset someone that much.

Any large company will always upset someone.

(No, I'm not naming them for obvious reasons of confidentiality, and no, it's not my direct employer for those who happen to know who that is - but I bet they are by no means the only one)

Yes, but to the extent that they set up a hate site that people would not look at and say "wow they are a nutter"? That is more than just upset.

Most of those sorts of sites I've seen and looked at do give the impression of someone who is a nutter, to be honest (not least because they never achieve anything). But there are plenty of nutters.

If in any doubt of that have a look at the "Angry People in Local Newspapers" FB page :)

There are a lot of weirdos about. Virgin Trains had one such hate site years ago during the Oyster dispute (the customer was right!!).

It does seem a bit pointless registering sites like this - surely anyone that annoyed would just get <business name>sucks.net or similar for their hate site - there's no shortage of insulting URLs available

Still literally nothing. God knows where the tickets are then. I’ve tried many different dates and filtered by Lumo
Had the same experience, then stopped using the filtered by Lumo and just scrolled down the list of trains and lo and behold Lumo services appear. They definitely need to sort out their website.

A quick thought about Lumo Only tickets. When I looked in my Star ticket machine a few weeks ago when they were launched the route field on the Lumo tickets said "ECTL Only". Looking today I note they have changed to "Lumo Only".

Could this change have affected the online systems somehow? Were they originally told Lumo Only = ECTL Only? Or is it all not that clever?

That will only be the text description, the route code (which drives everything else) won't have changed.

The same as when VTEC lost their franchise, "VTEC Only" became "LNER only" and so on.

Nice one for getting to London!

But they don’t have any walk-up fares of their own yet, or have I missed something? As it stands it’ll be the same price as LNER.

However if you live or work in Edinburgh, Newcastle, Peterborough or London then LNER will be preferred by their staff, I've added Peterborough as it's only 45 mins from London.

Has anyone actually successfully bought any Lumo tickets? I can't find any availability on their (awful) website. They can't have sold ALL of their tickets surely?

It would seem quite plausible that they have sold all the tickets for the initial trains - there was quite a bit of interest stated on here and the fare in the initial period is very cheap.

Try Wednesday 24 November from Kings Cross to Edinburgh at 14:36. You will see the ticket priced at £19.90. Then try different dates.

The initial northbound train on 25 October was announced as having sold out on their Facebook page on 10 September.

Just booked 2 return tickets via their website, couldn't have been much easier. Using a Two Together railcard, the total cost was £52.40. I'm sure I can cope without the so called luxuries provided by LNER and with Lumo's staff having ridiculous job titles......

As will the majority of the rest of the human population.

To think easyJet got sneered at in the early days of Cabin Crew wearing jeans and T-Shirts. Look at them now...

I am genuinely intrigued to see how this service does. Perhaps they will find the pricing sweet spot where franchises operators struggle.
