Are there any passenger routes on the network that an HST could travel to, but so far hasn't?

For example, has an HST ever reached Oban, Mallaig, Kyle of Lochalsh or Wick/Thurso?

Runcorn East on the Chester - Manchester line has an 8 carriage platform. don't think a HST has ever been there if that is what you mean?

Wouldn't have thought they've been along to Saltburn and what about the Yorkshire coast line?

I'm guessing my local line of Barnt Green-Redditch hasn't seen any, as well as the Looe branch, Stourbridge Town branch - would the HST need to move at all? And countless other branches.

Dover, Ramsgate? Infact I would probably even go as far as saying kent? Since I believe that the Intercity trains that went to Dover were 47s + Mk2s?, Ramsgate Similar (although I've heard Deltics were used as well?, I've never actually seen on in service though :( )

Nice bit of selective door opening may be in order if they went down to Stourbridge Town :P (thats if they could fit in on the branch in the first place coming off the main line!!!)

I don't think they've ever been up the North Berwick branch.

Yep before electrification in the 80's one was used for a North Berwick service , complete with open and staffed Buffet

There's no way that a full size HST could get onto the bay platform at Stourbridge Junction but there's a good chance a 2+2 could like they did at Manchester Airport! but would not do more than 15 so what's the point!
You just need someone to cough and it will go down the line and then possibly a notch 1 thrash on the way back up for a whole minute.
Give it back to the 153's!

A friend of mine at Gobowen station, David J Lloyd (Now remembered with a plaque on 67015) who died a few years ago showed me a picture of an Intercity HST at Gobowen station in the early 90's heading towards Chester so that's that line covered, heck knows why it was on that route but was a nice suprise!

I would imagine at some point an HST will go along the Airdrie to Bathgate . Hasent the Network rail done that already?

Dont know if its been on the Brighton Mainline

They have. On multiple occasions. They have been on the Chiltern Mainline too, the Greenford Branch between Paddington via west Ealing and Greenford and back down to Paddington.

My missus tells me that it's pretty darn treacherous driving in Buxton this morning. I'm amazed that the snow took so long to hit the Peak District, the area is usually first in line for adverse weather, I mean, I managed to find patches of snow in the hills round there in APRIL!

The weather for this week is rather worrying, I'm heading up to Chapel on Saturday as well

Of the three South West Wales branch lines west of Whitland, I know HST's served the Fishguard Harbour services up until about 8yrs ago and run on summer Saturdays to Pembroke Dock, but wouldn't be able to say whether or not one has ever visited Milford Haven?

Gobowen... wasn't that one of the Hertfordshire Rail Tours 125 charters in the 1990s?

In 1998 I was on a Euston - Holyhead HST which was diverted via Telford and Gobowen (43041+43164 with 0805 Euston - Holyhead on 25 Jan 1998 to be precise)

There was a thread on WNXX about this earlier this year, "mark hallett" posted that there'd been HSTs to Southminster, Sheringham, Whitby, Llandrindod Wells, Scarborough, Great Yarmouth, Severn Beach, Pwhelli, Blaenau Ffestiniog, Eastgate, Saltburn, Dufftown, Cranmore, Matlock, High Marnham, Cleethorpes, Redmire, Barnstaple, Rylstone, Falmouth, Workington, Llandudno, Kingswear, Boulby, Stranraer and Gourock!

If these are all true it'd be nice to see some photo's of such events.
There's a photo of one "off the beaten track" http://hanschowdhury.fotoblog.co.uk/p54702965.html
