Are you sure they are enhanced? I don’t recall doing a VSE with SE before, just the standard tests and the SJE before MMI. It was May when I did that.
100% mate, I done it October 2020 but failed the VSE when it was new and the assessors couldn’t even tell me how it works as it was still relatively new, April this year I re done only the VSE, went on to SJE and MMI and passed. August 27th I had my DMI and I start in January

Just had an email saying my application has passed initial screening, anyone else heard anything ? Must say, I’m surprised at the speed of hearing from them, within a week of the closing date.

I’ve applied for this! Haven’t heard anything yet, although I did submit my application day before it closed, due to being at work!

southern after initial application. “No News Is Good News”

Got an email today asking me to book an assessment day! Wasn’t expecting that! Thought I’d have to do some sort of maths test and English test first! Anyone else got any news?

Like you I submitted on day before closing date and received an email today saying I successfully passed screening process. I've got a valid first stage testing pass from 2019 - if up to their standard of course.
Good luck with it all.

Not heard a thing, strange. I wonder if some of it depends on location relative to number of vacancies? I know there's a greater need at the metro depots.

Not heard anything either.

I know 2 other people who have put in for the same ‘nearest’ depot as me and they haven’t heard either.

I applied for Hastings

I’ve applied for Hastings

I’m surprised they’ve taken on trainees at Hastings, and the coastal depots generally, as these can usually be supplied by a steady flow of ex metro men relocating away from London. It shows how much the shortage of drivers is biting them - and presents a great opportunity for those who want to join up!

Presumably they anticipate that a fair few will retire etc... from coastal depots in the coming years. On top of that maybe they're being cautious with regards to metro drivers transferring out to coastal depots because of the problem that leaves behind.

I'm guessing they're concerned about effectively having to train two people if a lot of drivers from the London suburbs decide they want to move further out. They'll have to put those who've moved on route-learning for a few months and have to replace them with a trainee, whereas if they keep the Metro people in place they only have to train one person. The irony is that this is probably one of why reasons why people are moving elsewhere causing the demand in the first place.

I think it's one of the reasons why a lot of TOCs up and down the country have been pushed to take more trainees, it's more efficient and it stops wage rises due to poaching. Qualified moves (both internal and external) are things that I'd like to see ASLEF get a lot more pushy about but they seem to be more interested in social matters which don't involve picking a battle with the TOCs/FOCs/DfT.

Did anyone else get this email today?

"Due to the high volume of applications we have recieved for this campaign we wanted to confirm that we are still keen to review your application and, as soon as we are able, we will be in touch with further details of when we can proceed to the next stage of the recruitment process"

Had the same email today, applied for Slade Green. Does anyone know, I passed the tests at OPC last year for Avanti West Coast, but didn’t get through the MMI. Will I need to do the tests again?

The big day tomorrow for me peeps! Going tonbridge! Full on 9 till 4 of tests … well that’s if I get though each part. I’ll relay an info I get after I’ve finished. I’m praying for a good run, done plenty of tests. Got my head round them, they seem really simple once you know what your doing. Dot test I’m still trying to find the right balance, getting about 7/8 lines down but miss the odd dot here and there. It’s my first ever time doing tests like this so who knows!
