I am sure this has been asked and I might well sound dumb but is there a reason for the constant MK5 shuffling? Is it to try get the coaches all with equal usage? Is every set now in service? Thanks!

It's for maintenance cycling. Every set has now worked in passenger service AFAIK.

Do you also happen to know how many Scarborough diagrams from those dates?

It was posted on here but think it's similar to now from May to December on the Scarborough useage but more through services to Liverpool and 5 or 6 sets on that line from December 2022 so doesn't look like Redcar/Saltburn will see any now.

It’s been said that the Scarborough services will retain four diagrams, though nothing is confirmed.

One diagram has been rumoured for the Saltburn services to allow for traction retention. However nothing confirmed.

That’s right.

Saltburn will now see 2x185 operation instead with the Nova 3 fleet on Liverpool to Scarborough and Cleethropes. At least that’s the current plan going forward as of the May/Dec 22 timetable changes

Nope.

2x Liverpool to Cleethropes diagrams from May 2022
6x Liverpool to Cleethorpes diagrams from Dec 2022
Ok, I stand (from the outside) corrected

Lets hope it is better than the 2x185s to Hull which quickly became 1x185!

Is it the Saltburn service which will go to Manchester Airport from December 22? The Mcr Recovery timetable just shows "Leeds".

Yes. It's just an extension of the existing Redcar service (albeit with one extra 'cycle' as there is a long turnaround at Saltburn).

Any news of 12802 (Out of TP02) entering service any time soon please?
Or might I be shaving with it in 2002.!

MTIA and seasonal greetings to all.

It is the spare coach and stored at Newport, away from the TPE network. It has passed aceptance and could be used if necessary. Why does it need to enter service until such time as another 128xx coach has a mishap?

I think I am suggesting that it looks like it could wait for some time because there is no need to use it. TP02 is formed with 12814 - needing to replace 12814 with 12802 is only really OCD. Clearly if 12802 were to enter service, another would be stored.

And if the next 128xx needs prolonged maintenance / repair is one other than 12814, then that may be replaced with 12802 - which would be easier 0perationally than swapping 12802 for 128014, and then swapping 12814 for the miscreant 128xx. But it would create another new stock formation, and there may be technical reasons why that's to be avoided - in which case 12814 will continue to be the car shuffled around between sets.

Does anyone know which set is at Gascoigne Wood, as seen it on Friday. Last post on here states tp08, but that set is in operation today.

Today I learnt from a friend that set TP12 (11512, 12734, 12735, 12736 & 12812) with 68024 has moved this morning to Wolverton from Walton Old Junction.

Are either of these locations a usual place for TPE Mk5s to be kept ?. Or has TP12 gone into deep hibernation ?.

There does appear to be a return working but maybe this is just the locomotive ?.
Which a bit late or is not going to run !.

He was referring to the return path from Wolverton which was cancelled.

There are now 2 sets at Wolverton, 68027 / TP09 being the other.
Thanks for that. So I hope that means that it is usually one set in and one set out. I am hoping to try and see them all this year and my fear was that one or more of the sets might be (very) long term stored at somewhere like Wolverton.

As I understand it, it will usually be one set in, one set out.

Plenty of mods taking place on the sets as they cycle through Wolverton, not least the replacement of the Harting Plug with something a bit tougher. Should be some decent improvements when they return both from a customer experience and reliability perspective.

Is this something related to the suspension?
