Very sadly. This is the thing to come.
From the government and rolling stock companies. Enjoying forcing passengers onto rammed 4 or 5 car trains to make a large profit. Whilst causing them to suffer. Also don't know how much Eversholt train leasing will make this year. From 455 Withdrawal.
However a good source of mine has informed me they made 41 million last year. From the 365 demise. Profit for them absolutely shocking. Probably no doubt big back hander to the dft also.
Eversholt are losing lease income unless they are being compensated for early termination of leases which if so doesn't really make sense as I can't see that is saving the operators very much cash as its hardly if they've shut Stewarts Lane and made everyone redundant.

Could try an FOI to DfT who will fob it off and say GTR hold the information and sit outside FOI despite being 100% supported by taxpayer.

It is somewhat easier to bin off units than to start the consultation process for redundancies. Do Stewarts Lane still do 387s or are they now looked after at Lovers Walk?

Does anyone know how the staff establishments within GTR are affected by the reduced trainfleet? I imagine there is some natural attrition in any case.

I have a feeling that the Gat Ex 387s is still based there. And of course, the VSOE / Belmond is still based out of Stewarts Lane, so there's little chance of a complete closure for now.

Stewart's Lane is the home depot for the 377/6/7 fleet, as well as doing some 377/1-5 and 387/2 work to relieve Selhurst and Brighton Lover's Walk. It sees all of these types of units for cleaning and stabling too.

Thanks for this list, very useful.
To confirm, the remaining stored units are unlikely to ever return to service?

I'm pleased to say their legacy lives on, ironically enough in South Wales!

Very unlikely. Maybe some could of gone to SWR but I can’t see that happening

5Q55 1033 Stewarts Lane to Newport Simms was hauled by 66703 the Arlington vans with 455835 and 455841 going for scrap. On time at Shepherd's Bush.

Would it be worth adding this list in your first post that started this thread, along with the storage locations of each unit? Think that will be useful

It's not a rumour at all. all the timetables on the website are end dated in September for that reason.
Think the OP meant the reorganisation of metro services, not the fact that a timetable change is taking place in September?

Yeah, I was trying to figure out how to do that. Can I just edit my first post and put the fleet status in there?

Yes, there should be an icon with three dots at the bottom of the post. It would help as well for fututre reference to have one place instead of hopping through multiple pages to find when each unit was sent for scrap.

I've attached some photos of todays scrap move at Newport if anyone is interested, with 66703 leading 455835 and 455841 to there fate.

Does anyone know the date of when 455's first entered service on the Southern region? Was it from the May 1983 timetable change?
