Bury FC/AFC

The result of the merger vote - from the AFC members was appx 92% in favour, from the BFCSS members appx 62% in favour,

So the motion wasn't carried as on both sides 66.6% had to approve.

Completely barmy and ridiculous that just under 300 "fans" would rather Bury FC go it alone, especially when AFC at Radcliffe can guarantee 1000-1500 every home game, and most if not all won't be moving back to Gigg should an FC emerge there.

Hyde United 7 ... Bamber Bridge 0

Bamber Bridge had already beaten Hyde 1-0 in the league match on their own ground and were on a run of good form that saw them in 5th place in the league. The first half was evenly fought with Hyde scoring an early goal, but then Hyde added another three more in the last five minutes of the first half to go in 4-0 up. Confidence level was high in the Hyde second half performance and they added a further three goals before the final whistle blew.

Extremely exciting day of football! Goal fests everywhere! In the premier league, my team Tottenham Hotspur won 3-2 after being 2-0 down away to AFC Bournemouth and Brighton and Hove Albion beat Chelsea and their old manager 4-1.

Down a tier into he Championship and West Brom are now bottom of the table after losing at home to Sheffield United.

The story of the day, in my opinion, came in League One where Charlton drew 4-4 with Ipswich. At half time, Ipswich were winning 1-0 after a goal in the 3rd minute of added time. In the second half, Charlton equalised before Ipswich scored a second. Near the end of the 90 minutes, Charlton equalised again as the scoreline was 2-2 entering added time where, Ipswich scored in the 1st minute and the 4th minute to make it 4-2. At this point, Ipswich were set to return to the top of the league but Charlton scored in the 6th and 9th minute of added time to take the FT score to 4-4.

Wrexham and Notts County are running away with the National League. Both teams won 4-0 today.

There was also action in the Scottish Championship where Hamilton Academical came back from 4-1 down to draw 4-4.

Boston 2 Chester 3. Gave the away side the obligatory 3-0 ht lead. Really poor again, could be the worst Boston side I’ve ever seen without strengthening.

He's not getting sacked in the morning
Shame. No doubt we'll revert back to type when we really need another 3 points next week at ER against Bournemouth.

(I am delighted however to have gained 3 points and beaten Liverpool, however I still do not think he is the right man for the job).

Ronnie Radford has died - FA Cup hero of 1972 when non league Hereford beat Newcastle. RIP Ronnie, your goal will live on in memories around the country for ever.

Indeed it will (50 years ago!). Also the first match commentated upon my John Motson.

Boston 1 Anti-football Hoof Merchants (Alfreton) 0. Wow that was a surprise result, made even sweeter to turn over Billy Heath and Matt Rhead and Tom Denton and co!

15 days until the World Cup in Qatar (!) begins.
I have enjoyed every world cup since goodness knows when. This one just feels wrong, and I'll
feel I have let myself down if I just lazily drift in to watching it.

Would anyone be up for starting a prediction league thread after the World Cup?

I was thinking we could stick to the Premier league for now and we would start with the Boxing Day fixtures.

Liversedge 1 ... Hyde United 3

Hyde scored in the 11th minute and kept the 1-0 lead at half time. Hyde scored their second goal in the 59th minute, but Liversedge pulled one back six minutes later. Hyde then scored again with 15 minutes to go and ended worthy winners. Hyde are now top of the league with a better goal difference and have games in hand of the teams below them.

You make a fair point. Sorry for the typo. We can move further down the football pyramid if it is successful.

Winchester City 1...Tiverton Town 2 (Mlambo 80; Britton 88, Thomas 90)

With Warren Bentley missing through injury, it was the combined efforts of substitutes Henry Brooks and Simba Mlambo that broke the deadlock with ten minutes left. Unfortunately, a late free kick was headed in by Matthew Britton before Leighton Thomas provided the sickener with a first time shot into the bottom corner. Trips to high-flyers Hanwell and Truro (the latter playing at Plymouth Parkway's ground)

Other Results:

Beaconsfield Town 3...Gosport Borough 2

Chesham United 1...Swindon Supermarine 1

Leeds United 4 Bournemouth 3

A chaotic and tumultuous afternoon at Elland Road with fireworks aplenty. Leeds looked bright early on, and won a penalty which was duly converted. Sadly, Leeds then forgot the basics of football, conceding 3 horrific goals with Bournemouth looking likely to run away with the game. Supersub Greenwood managed to score a worldy which then put Bournemouth on the back foot, with Leeds looking competent again. Cooper scrambled one in from a corner and then the excellent Gnonto set up Summerville for an excellent finish, sending the Elland Road crowd into ectasy.

Although I am far from convinced by manager Marsch, he looks safe for now after 6pts from his last two games.

I miss the time a couple of years ago where we got 4-3s every week

We (Fulham) couldn't beat Manchester City even though they played 70 odd minutes with only ten players.

Silly, naive penalty to give away in injury time to allow them to claim the victory though, it has to be said.

As the old adage goes, it's the hope that kills you... :s
