On paper. Absolutely anything can be negotiated between TOC and leasing company if so required, despite the apparent fixation on 'hard and fast' rules.Repaired and returned to service as per the lease conditions. High hours / miles or not, unless First were willing to fork out for the charges upon Handback, Angel wants a running power car and that is what they’ll have.
I don’t see what’s surprising about that, and particularly given the amount of Turbos out of service awaiting parts and HSTs covering DMU diagrams this week, GW will need all the serviceable stock they can get their hands on.
Of course it can, but given how things have played out between First and Angel over the last few years, sometime's it better to keep those who you lease your fleet from sweet than choose to go down the route of p*ssing them off, no matter how things can be renegotiated. Anyway, as in this case and as expected, 43005 has returned to traffic as per the leasing conditions. On paper. It really wasn't 'expected'. The people determining the future of these vehicles had actually expected to stand it down. The fact it has been able to be put back into traffic is, in fact, unexpected.Of course it can, but given how things have played out between First and Angel over the last few years, sometime's it better to keep those who you lease your fleet from sweet than choose to go down the route of p*ssing them off, no matter how things can be renegotiated. Considering that it was part of the lease conditions, it wasn't. But there we go.It really wasn't 'expected'. The people determining the future of these vehicles had actually expected to stand it down. The fact it has been able to be put back into traffic is, in fact, unexpected.
That's correct (although 43022/041 are now stopped, of course). Can someone confirm this is the correct list of Angel power cars that GWR use, please. Ta.
43004, 005, 009, 010, 016, 022, 027, 029, 040, 041, 042, 170, 171, 172, 186, 187, 188, 189, 192.
Could I ask - there are others in service - is there a list of those, and who owns those? Sorry if this is well-known informationThat's correct (although 43022/041 are now stopped, of course).
The rest of the "green fleet" is owned as follows:Could I ask - there are others in service - is there a list of those, and who owns those? Sorry if this is well-known information
Thank you - most helpfulThe rest of the "green fleet" is owned as follows:

Can’t say I’m surprised given the state of its bodywork!Being reported the 43160 is being retired on Saturday, no real surprise as was due it's G exam around the end of December,
I was on that set yesterday. That's sadBeing reported the 43160 is being retired on Saturday, no real surprise as was due it's G exam around the end of December,
I'm surprised 43160 stayed so long. I thought the crash at Plymouth would have made it an early candidate for a spares donor.
I'd always assumed we had more than two per night on Laira , but obviously not.Their are only 2 diagrams that end in Plymouth on a Saturday and diagram 6 the one it's on gives the most for it to do 4 trains, if it was on diagram 7 it would only get a Penzance Cardiff return plus Penzance Plymouth in the evening,
I would say diagram 6 gives more people the chance to ride on and photograph it on its last day,
3 Bristol, 3 Penzance & 2 Plymouth at the end of each day,I'd always assumed we had more than two per night on Laira , but obviously not.
Does anyone have a list or link to the HST diagrams !?
I have tried searching but can’t see anything….
Thanks
Rich
Between Taunton and Bristol T.M. the line does have some good views of the countrysideAnd huge surprise surprise to find 43160 spends its final day mainly between Taunton and Cardiff, ending with a run to Plymouth. Same diagram 43022 ended on. Obviously someone in Swindon wants to ride behind each PC on its last day!
Yes, it often happened at Nailsea.Between Taunton and Bristol T.M. the line does have some good views of the countryside
Don’t know about now, but before the announcement of these being withdrawn, it was not difficult to see an up 2+4 passing a down 2+4 at some of the stations on this line.
Thanks, id assumed that one would have carried on longer seeing as it got repaired but clearly it was only a short term reprieve.Looks like 43005 unexpected swansong ends on Wednesday 22 Feb,
There was talk it was going to make the end of the month but it's been out a lot since returning so used it's hours up,
At the moment it's on a diagram that will see it end with 1400 Cardiff - Penzance on Wednesday be interesting to see if it gets moved around on Monday morning to something that gets it to Plymouth,
07.35ish on Friday morning saw 3 simultaneously at Filton Abbey Wood - 2 as normal, the third substituting for a 5-car 800.Between Taunton and Bristol T.M. the line does have some good views of the countryside

It's almost out of mileage to F exam. As the engine has plenty of hours left on it, it wouldn't be a surprise if there was a power unit swap with one that is coming due a QL3 or QL4 engine overhaul. Thanks, id assumed that one would have carried on longer seeing as it got repaired but clearly it was only a short term reprieve.
Be interesting to see if they start doing this there are a few that are coming due engine overhaul but will not need a F or G exam until next year,It's almost out of mileage to F exam.
