I do wonder how reliable all that exposed connection gubbins will be, after a long winter?
I think a high tech solution like a thick bin bag (rubble sack ?) will fix that. Maybe they can get some yellow ones.

Huh. It looks like a modern day take on the Class 60's with OHLE. I like itJust received this picture - thought I'd put it here (apologies for low res) View attachment 133431
if they hid the connections, i'd love it, with them i'm not so sure.Just received this picture - thought I'd put it here (apologies for low res) View attachment 133431
spot on!I think a high tech solution like a thick bin bag (rubble sack ?) will fix that. Maybe they can get some yellow ones.
Nose cone required anybody ?.All that spaghetti and yet no vacuum brake or steam heat!
It does look very cluttered and untidy.
Yeah, well more likely I suppose.I think a high tech solution like a thick bin bag (rubble sack ?) will fix that. Maybe they can get some yellow ones.
I like that too, it enhances the livery. I also like the fact they've put a space between the class identifier and sub-class identifier just like the good old days of the 70s/80s.So there are yellow panels, I like that.
Oods gets my voteZoidberg or Oods also in the running
All those gubbins at the front make it look a bit like Davey Jones, from Pirates of the CaribbeanJust received this picture - thought I'd put it here (apologies for low res) View attachment 133431
Agree entirely. Something about the black between the lights definitely is 60 esk.Huh. It looks like a modern day take on the Class 60's with OHLE. I like it![]()
Can I ask please when 93001 will begin the testing process ?
I believe it's at Velim in Czechia. So where is 93001 now?
It seems to have had the "Stadler treatment". Which is no surprise! I like itThey've got rid of the silly cab / nose styling of the 68s and 88s which is no bad thing.
Not saying the 93 is uglier but the 68/88 are much more stylish! They've got rid of the silly cab / nose styling of the 68s and 88s which is no bad thing.
This is required by Rail Industry Standard RIS-2453-RST (Vehicle Registration, Marking and Numbering):I also like the fact they've put a space between the class identifier and sub-class identifier just like the good old days of the 70s/80s.
Appendix A: Numbering Rules for the Allocation of a European Vehicle Number
A.1 Locomotives and heritage vehicles
A.1.1 It is permissible for existing locomotives that operate solely on the GB mainline network to only display the GB operational number (TOPS). This consists of five digits, corresponding to digits 7 to 11 of the EVN. Shunting locomotives shall display a preceding zero to achieve the minimum of five digits.
A.1.2 For clarity, the GB equivalent number range shall be displayed on the rail vehicle with the class identifiers separated from the serial number by a short space, for example 08 425 and 73 201.
Yes, I hadn't noticed the ACS-64 relation, but I see it now that you mention it.I agree with the Class 60 comparisons, although I see it as a Class 60 crossed with an Amtrak ACS-64. Weird looking locos but I'm sure I'll grow on them.

They've done a bit of work to harmonise the style of their whole line up on the Euro-spec FLIRT 3 design. While the Vossloh style of the 68s and 88s isn't bad, I agree that I like this more. The Class 60 comparison is also quite interesting, because the Co-Co configuration EuroDual does give off a bit of a "facelifted Class 92 in cargo trousers" vibeIt seems to have had the "Stadler treatment". Which is no surprise! I like it
I have just been told by a very senior person at Stadler that 93 001 is now in the UK.I believe it's at Velim in Czechia.
That's good to hearI have just been told by a very senior person at Stadler that 93 001 is now in the UK.
Very good news assuming it’s true.I have just been told by a very senior person at Stadler that 93 001 is now in the UK.
Excellent news, I shall be looking forward to seeing it out and about in due time!I have just been told by a very senior person at Stadler that 93 001 is now in the UK.
I was told the other day that these will be coming through Portbury, is that correct, and if so are they likely to be delivered by rail from there or by road? There’s been a mixture with previous stock deliveries. I’d have expected to see crew training on the Portbury branch if delivery was imminent.I have just been told by a very senior person at Stadler that 93 001 is now in the UK.
According to the article below from Rail Express, they will be moved to Old Dalby by road.I was told the other day that these will be coming through Portbury, is that correct, and if so are they likely to be delivered by rail from there or by road? THE imminent arrival of the first tri-mode Class 93s for Rail Operations Group (ROG) is another significant moment in the recent history of the business, which has grown considerably in less than a decade.
It’s too easy to think of ROG as an operator using heritage traction to deliver new trains from their manufacturers to their new operators, or taking redundant rolling stock either for storage or in its final trip to the breaker’s yard. There is so much more to the business.
Sadly they removed the footpath from the north side of the Avonmouth bridge when the motorway was widened to four lanes, otherwise I’d nip up and have a look as it gave a good view over the docks.Interesting that ROG have made no official announcements regarding 93001 and its supposed arrival in the UK, no pictures seem to exist of it in the UK, perhaps the 'very senior person at Stadler' is misinformed?
Maybe, but when I say "senior" I do mean "very senior indeed" and I'd expect him to know exactly what is going on.Interesting that ROG have made no official announcements regarding 93001 and its supposed arrival in the UK, no pictures seem to exist of it in the UK, perhaps the 'very senior person at Stadler' is misinformed?
