Did I really see a Verisure alarm TV advert where two young women are talking and one says to the other....."Yes, they had a Verisure alarm fitted the day after they were burgled"

Reminds me of the old adage of locking the stable door after the horse has bolted.

that if you are burgled once you are more likely to be burgled again so it’s a good idea to get an alarm

Or as we have the only one on the street maybe all the other houses are a better bet to go un noticed?

My Aunt and Uncle were made to have a burglar alarm fitted after they had about 6 burglaries, and not in the most crime ridden areas, Crewkerne in Somerset! It did stop any future incidents.

If there was a whole class of TV adverts that I abhor it would be those from the gambling industry.
The number of ordinary people whose lives have been destroyed by gambling is alarmingly high. Yet all the time adverts are wholesale after the watershed, each carefully crafted to present all gambler's as happy prosperous individuals fully in control of their lives. Then there follows the lure of 'free bets' and other inducements that hang on the screen as long as possible follows by a token 'bet responsibly' message in the smallest text resolvable on a standard TV. If only the Trades Description section of the Consumer Rights Act was property enforced, there might be a bit less misery in so e families.

I think I remember a gambling firm advertising a few years ago that seemed to be referring to choosing “your bookmaker”, as though it was as normal as having a doctor or dentist, or maybe an account with a utility company...

Watching an IKEA TV advert, I am not sure if I heard correctly, but I swear that I heard the man at the door asking me to come into his crib, as he looked way past his babyhood.

Can’t stand the music in the Jet2 adverts (which I believe is ‘Hold My Hand’ by Jess Glynne).

Also when you are on a Jet2 flight the song is on repeat play as soon as the aircraft comes to a stop until you escape through the exit door.

Edit: I’m guessing they play it to get you off the aircraft more quickly……

Sometimes TV adverts have unforeseen and unwanted consequences as my brother said he heard a five year old lad singing "You stole my car" over and over again, instead of "You sold my car"...

Funnily enough, I saw that advert for the first time today (I'm watching Great Railway Journeys on Yesterday) and had a similar reaction. The security services should take note, as playing that advert would be useful for extracting information.

I hate the whole idea of Air bnb, so you'd rather go to some random persons house rather than somewhere that you know has the correct insurance, will have some sort of recourse if things go wrong and in theory is up to scratch safety/cleanliness wise, plus they reduce the rental stock for people who live in an area. Personally I think they should be banned, though I do work for a caravan site so there is vested interest somewhat.

Oh yes, they certainly do!

Today I've seen two different adverts on the telly today; the first is one that has been doing the rounds for a while, but the second appears to be a new one that has a really annoying song that says "Get the Gtech out" - a cry that might be ringing round the CEO's office when some disgruntled punter takes one of their products and shoves it where the sun doesn't shine!

There is a rather strange Samsung TV advert featuring a group of young women in a place like Center Parcs suddenly reacting in a terrified way in scenes reminiscent from an old "B" movie attempting to escape from the site and like in the old movies, whilst driving away, the last scene sees one of the group in the car screaming uncontrollably, then it ends. What on earth was that storyline about?
