11035 has been out of use for a very long time, certainly the last couple of years. I'd like to know where it is as it's my last set. I haven't seen 11089 since about early Sep last year so that's another one that's looking like a long term out of use set too. Sorry that's not really any help but hopefully somebody can help with their exact locations.

My understanding is 11036/11035 have basically been cannibalised of parts, to help repairs to other sets.

11090/11089 was involved in an 'incident' with 11018/11017 at Northumberland Park Depot back in the autumn. The rumour is that it would be a big surprise if those sets ever ran again, and they have also been cannibalised of parts.

This afternoon I noticed yellow battery loco 30 outside in the grounds of Millennium Site Services, Derby. I know the firm does work on rolling stock from time to time but out of (my) curiosity does anyone know if this LU engineers loco is retired or up here for a refurb please?

I don’t know, but I had a look at Millennium’s website and they mostly do interior/body work. (Including seating, painting, body-shell replacements.) Somebody is still using it enough to spend money on it!

Battery L30 is still there, outside with a tarp over it so nothing is happening fast to it.

I’ve checked on another forum and someone wrote in 2018 that battery loco L30 was “on stands long term” (I.e. out of use)

As of 2017 there were life extension works ongoing on the battery locos. (Page 31 of this doc - can’t find anything more up to date). This could be why L30 is up there but maybe the work is heavily delayed. (apologies if you already know this!)

100% confirmed today that L30 is still at Millennium Site Services and conveniently the tarpaulin was off the cab so managed to get a rather poor photo through their terrible security fence!

The new Intertube website ( there's a thread about it titled "LU Tracker" ) will help you considerably in this.

I tried it today and it proved very accurate; I was able to clear my last five 1995 Stock units for photo in the space of an hour and a half - everything was as the site indicated.

It's basically a public version of Trackernet but without the track graphics and ( obviously ) the train crew diagram details.

I check regularly on intertube and 51630 is never on the WTT lists.
Makes me think it must be stored out of use,but it has been unlisted for several months now!

Does anyone know please if there are any long term out of service half sets on the Piccadilly Line? I am in London next week and hoping to clear my few remaining ones but would like to check they may be out. Thank You

Always worth checking Intertube on the day but with the Piccadilly line it's sometimes not particularly useful as return journeys up the whole line and back can take a while so you might not get both sets identified on there. From what I've seen over the last week the only ones that I've not noted working are:

Saw 3 of those in the last few weeks but it has indeed been a while - the dates are the last time I saw them:

219: 9 May
216: 5 June
102: 5 June (in Acton Town sidings)

I'd noted 219 out as recently as 10 June paired with 246 but then saw 855 paired with 246 yesterday and not sure that 219 is currently out and about.

Edit to my previous messages, ignore 216 on that list, it's actually paired with 107 and has been out earlier this week and today.

222 appears to be paired with 189. It was working train 305 Saturday and did a return trip Northfields to Arnos Grove and back on train 350 on Sunday (16th June) afternoon, but does not appear to be in service today.

166 has been scrapped (having been removed from service in 2005, with cars 366 and 566 being sent for scrap more recently - at some point during the pandemic apparently). 169 has been stopped since early May 2024 and 251 has been stopped since December 2023. 251 has damage from a depot derailment and may well be stopped permanently...
