Per post #2776, Class 810 test runs on the MML will be diesel-only for the foreseeable. No indication of electric running on RTT either.

Diesel on Midland mainline, electric testing on ECML
Seems to be pathed along the slow line from Bedford southbound. But Northbound seems to have a stop at Bedford curiously switching to the slow line platforms rather than the down main.

5Q45 passes Flitwick Junction at 1551 (crossing Down Fast to Down Slow), With 1F52 St P - Sheffield passing Flitwick Jn at 1557(.5), and 1D53 passing Flitwick Jn at 1600(.5).
5Q45 crosses back from Down Slow to Down Fast at Sharnbrook Jn. 1F52 passes Sharnbrook at 1607, 1D53 at 1610, 5Q45 at 1614.

Either there's a pathing reason that forced planners to get 5Q45 out of the way, or there's an operational/crew reason for a stop at Bedford (even though it's not marked) and the non-stop Sheffield behind prevented the call on the down main. The southbound has a 2 minute stop at Bedford as well, so I think there's possibly somebody on board for only the Bedford-London-Bedford section.

Surprised it is going back to Old Dalby via Leicester but glad it is as i should catch it at Leicester South Junction if it running to time and not early.

Is that the final livery? It’s a bit plain.
No, the unit is painted purple during the assembly process at Newton Aycliffe.

EMR will add livery when they receive a unit and prior to start of service.

Northbound passed Kettering 3 minutes early and now nothing on RTT. There seems to be problem at Leicester with 16:37 Sheffield still standing at platform 1 and the Lincoln service still on 4. May be points failure.

Track circuit issue Trent Junction. Fault with the Signalling System between Nottingham and Derby. Lines are blocked.

I'm pleased to see that they're now running on the NML. Hopefully an introduction to service will not be to much longer.

The re-reroute via Corby, Manton and Oakham was due to the congestion crossing Trent Junction this afternoon. With a string of passenger trains significantly delayed and sitting for undetermined periods at Leicester and Loughborough, it wouldn’t have made sense to continue on the northbound MML and then get stuck somewhere waiting while the scheduled operations took priority.

I've posted a short clip of 810004 passing through Luton Airport Parkway (down fast) on Twitter. It was behind a Corby-bound 360 pairing, hence the lack of speed.

Here's a photo of 810004 sitting at Derby on platform 5 at 11:25 this morning, forming 5Q44 1050 Sheffield to St Pancras International:

It's "expression" reminds me of a miserable fish, which I quite like.

I did take a short video of it leaving Derby but it seems to have disappeared into the bit bucket. (:

The front gives an impression of being more angular than curved.
