The Geminis are permanentGlasgow really do need the buses they loaned to Aberdeen back soon.
Was on the 31 today (tracking on bus times as withdrawn 37530)Does anyone know why the E400EV demonstrator “LC71 EFD” is currently with First Glasgow?
Long term loansThe Geminis are permanent
I was also talking about the E400s for the 6 too.The Geminis are permanent
Those are permanent transfers too they were never loansI was also talking about the E400s for the 6 too.
Then why was 33913 sent back for the 6? And not stay in Aberdeen when they’re having storages too? Those are permanent transfers too they were never loans
They are supposed to be swapped for Manchester VolvosThen why was 33913 sent back for the 6? And not stay in Aberdeen when they’re having storages too?
Must be down to cost for ordering singles.Instead of ordering 50 new E200EVs they should have ordered deckers but they never learn their lesson as has been a common theme with the 2 (previous 62).
Spotted it today, fancy destination screen too.Was on the 31 today (tracking on bus times as withdrawn 37530)
Very fancy for a bus on normal service with tables and wireless chargers
37471 was in Glasgow today on the 88.They swapped it for another Ex-Manchester Gemini, number 37471.
So many Gemini have just been sent to Aberdeen on-loan, is there still problems there?
Why swap native ones though? I’m honestly fine with the ex-Manchester batch moving, but I don’t get why the ones that have been at Glasgow for years would move to Aberdeen?Swapping them for the 339xx batch of low height e400 classics, so the e400s can go back on the 6.
Probably because its a highly irrelevant factor when it comes to fleet movements. Why swap native ones though? I’m honestly fine with the ex-Manchester batch moving, but I don’t get why the ones that have been at Glasgow for years would move to Aberdeen?

I dont see why they cant build low height buses as the ones they previously builtFurther proof that the 6 needs the capacity. I hope new low heights enter the market by the time the E400s are up for replacement.
Are there any available to purchase in the market as they have to be 13’-8”I dont see why they cant build low height buses as the ones they previously built
13"9' the E400s are, the MMCs are 13"10' and 14"2'Are there any available to purchase in the market as they have to be 13’-8”
Down South have some low height Streetdecks but I imagine not low enough!13"9' the E400s are, the MMCs are 13"10' and 14"2'
Not quite. The new EVs are replacing the Citaros, Streetlites and what's left by then of the E400s.The Geminis transferring are only required at Aberdeen until the new Wrightbus Double Deck EVs arrive in the Spring then they’ll either return to Glasgow, hopefully for frequency increases, or to other areas of First which are still running 2004-2007 registered vehicles which are at end-of-life.
Never knew about Streetlites leaving Aberdeen but I can’t see all of the transferred Geminis remaining long-term.Not quite. The new EVs are replacing the Citaros, Streetlites and what's left by then of the E400s.
The Geminis (most of which are not loans but permanent transfers) are staying at Aberdeen for the forseeable future likely until all 25 Hydroliners are active again once the new Hydrogen facility in Altens opens which isn't likely to happen until at least 2026.
A few of the Glasgow ones are just short term loans, but the majority at permanentNever knew about Streetlites leaving Aberdeen but I can’t see all of the transferred Geminis remaining long-term.
Seen two low heights on the 6 trundling down Union St other day. First time in a while. Beats the E300!Further proof that the 6 needs the capacity. I hope new low heights enter the market by the time the E400s are up for replacement.
On the topic of those Gemini.A few of the Glasgow ones are just short term loans, but the majority at permanent
Always been the case for them two routes. A bus is a bus.I still find it weird that the 81 & M60 routes sometimes has double deckers on it from time to time.
Like why waste a Gemini or an E400 that could be used on much more suited routes like the 2, 3, 6A, or 77, but instead, have them on routes that are very short?
I honestly don’t mind whenever the have an E300 or E200EV (like what the M11 now has now for it’s services) instead of a Streetlite on the routes, because there’s not many of them left at Scotstoun (like 5-6 Streetlites), but double deckers are quite questionable.

I really think they should send 37546 back down to Glasgow and swap it with 37461 or 37467 for a bit.
Because it’s the only Ex-Manchester Gemini not to get a refurb yet, and it shows:

First Aberdeen 37546 MX09GYJ is a Volvo B9TL Wright Eclipse Gemini, delivered new to First Manchester in March 2009. It's seen here in Aberdeen city centre, working a 20 service to Hillhead of Seaton. 26/10/2024www.flickr.com
It's very much what's available is what is used. Run out in the morning starts at 4am and allocates the most suitable vehicle each route but as we get close to 7 or 8am when the last vehicles are going out it's often what's left or what's been repaired after failing earlier in the morning. It can also mean the small buses like streetlites go out in place of double deckers on main core routes so it can go both waysI still find it weird that the 81 & M60 routes sometimes has double deckers on it from time to time.

E400s were terrible to driveSeen two low heights on the 6 trundling down Union St other day. First time in a while. Beats the E300!
This is interesting, I never knew about this. Thanks for telling me about how the bus allocations work. It's very much what's available is what is used. It’s often the case no matter what the company the last bus out is always something that's been repaired overnighand can often be the worst bus in the fleet!
