Further proof that the 6 needs the capacity. I hope new low heights enter the market by the time the E400s are up for replacement.

Swapping them for the 339xx batch of low height e400 classics, so the e400s can go back on the 6.
Why swap native ones though? I’m honestly fine with the ex-Manchester batch moving, but I don’t get why the ones that have been at Glasgow for years would move to Aberdeen?

Probably because its a highly irrelevant factor when it comes to fleet movements.

The Geminis transferring are only required at Aberdeen until the new Wrightbus Double Deck EVs arrive in the Spring then they’ll either return to Glasgow, hopefully for frequency increases, or to other areas of First which are still running 2004-2007 registered vehicles which are at end-of-life.

Not quite. The new EVs are replacing the Citaros, Streetlites and what's left by then of the E400s.

The Geminis (most of which are not loans but permanent transfers) are staying at Aberdeen for the forseeable future likely until all 25 Hydroliners are active again once the new Hydrogen facility in Altens opens which isn't likely to happen until at least 2026.

Never knew about Streetlites leaving Aberdeen but I can’t see all of the transferred Geminis remaining long-term.

Seen two low heights on the 6 trundling down Union St other day. First time in a while. Beats the E300!

I still find it weird that the 81 & M60 routes sometimes has double deckers on it from time to time.

Like why waste a Gemini or an E400 that could be used on much more suited routes like the 2, 3, 6A, or 77, but instead, have them on routes that are very short?

I honestly don’t mind whenever the have an E300 or E200EV (like what the M11 now has now for it’s services) instead of a Streetlite on the routes, because there’s not many of them left at Scotstoun (like 5-6 Streetlites), but double deckers are quite questionable.

A few of the Glasgow ones are just short term loans, but the majority at permanent
On the topic of those Gemini.

I really think they should send 37546 back down to Glasgow and swap it with 37461 or 37467 for a bit.

Because it’s the only Ex-Manchester Gemini not to get a refurb yet, and it shows:

Always been the case for them two routes. A bus is a bus.

Don't think they interwork with other routes.

It's very much what's available is what is used. Run out in the morning starts at 4am and allocates the most suitable vehicle each route but as we get close to 7 or 8am when the last vehicles are going out it's often what's left or what's been repaired after failing earlier in the morning. It can also mean the small buses like streetlites go out in place of double deckers on main core routes so it can go both ways

Its often the case no matter what the company the last bus out is always something that's been repaired overnighand can often be the worst bus in the fleet!

This is interesting, I never knew about this. Thanks for telling me about how the bus allocations work.
