Tamworth 1-2 FC Halifax Town

Not pretty at all, and against the run of play, but two decent goals and a nervy 15 minutes of injury time means we did what Spurs couldn’t do and won at Tamworth without needing extra time

We got knocked out the FA Cup by an Offside goal on Friday…
Whoever ‘We’ is, you got knocked out of the FA Cup because the opposition scored more goals than you. Games may be affected by refereeing decisions, but they are decided by goals.

Whereas Stoke got knocked out of the FA Cup not because they lost on penalties, but because they are sh*te….:frown:

I'm assuming we = Leicester City, and they were a trifle unfortunate to say the least...:

So not having var saved Utd and having var got them to the final. The games only fit for banter now.

I am a little confused by this statement above. It gives the impression that Leicester City would have won the game if the Maguire goal had been disallowed, but the score at that time was 1-1, not Leicester City leading 1-0. There would still have been extra time to be played, then a penalty shoot out if the scores were still level at the end of extra time.

Yeah, your right. I'm getting too confused in my old age.

Yes exactly. United’s 93rd minute winner resulted from a bad refereeing decision, but the point stands that Leicester didn’t score more goals in the previous 92 minutes. That is what cost them the game.

Birmingham City beat a, very poor, Cambridge United 4-0 to go 7 points clear at the top of League 1, with a game in hand over the second and third placed sides.
The effort from the Cambridge side was very poor, as if they have given up the fight to avoid relagation.

Leeds put in a strong away performance to extend their lead at the top of the Championship. However, Sheff Utd and Burnley both play tonight.

Bury v West Didsbury and Chorlton for me today, maybe a gate of 4000 for level 9.

North West Counties Football League...Premier Division

Bury 2 ...West Didsbury & Chorlton 1

Attendance of 3,724 saw a goal-less first half, then WD&C took a 48th minute lead, but Bury scored in the 56th and 75th minute to consolidate their position as top of the league.

And according to the same organisation they had 52,452 against Charlton this afternoon!
According to Wikipedia, the seating capacity of Birmingham City's stadium is 29,409.

An attendance of over 25,000 for the 3rd homre game in a week, and the away team not selling all of the seats available to them is actually impressive.

The win today leaves Birmingham City with a nine point lead in League One, with a game in hand over the two closest chasing clubs.

In the Championship, Oxford had their first defeat since Gary rowett took chartge, but they are still well clear of the relegation places, unlike Plymouth who lost again and stil have the least wins and worst goal difference in the division.

Around 200 aways boosted the gate @ Gigg, and noisy they were too! Quite a unique situation as most aways are barely a handful. But WD&C get gates at home of over 1000, to have two clubs in the NWCL getting that is remarkable when normally 200 is a good gate for all clubs.

FC Halifax Town 1-0 Boston

Scrappy, scruffy, lacking in quality, patchy, an absolute mess.

Anyway, enough about the pitch. It’ll only get worse once the rugby lads start rolling around on it.

Got the job done - just - against one of the teams fighting relegation. Will need to be a lot better away at high flying York next week

Leeds 2 Sunderland 1

Leeds came from behind to win in the 95th minute against fellow promotion rivals. Credit to Sunderland as they played well and kept a strong shape which made it difficult going for Leeds. Leeds’ next game is 2nd placed Sheff Utd next Monday evening which promises to be a cracker. I have the offer of a ticket in the home end, but I’m not sure I want to sit on my hands for 90 minutes…

Not sure I can see Leeds losing the title from here. It feels like Sheffield United haven't played well in 3 months and Burnley's only strategy is to bore their opponents to submission. As much as I'd like to see Sunderland promoted again, they really don't have enough experience to surmount a significant title charge.

Sheff Utd v Leeds next week will be a big indicator on the title. Personally, I’m not bothered about being top, it’s the gap to 3rd that matters to me.

Bury's regular attendances are remarkable, as are WD&C's. FC Isle of Man was getting similar crowds in their first season, at the step below, but the excitement of that first season has faded and FCIOM seems to have settled at about the 700 mark. Though it'll be interesting how many WD&C bring over.

Still very good for the level, though.

The Bury and WD&C average attendances are higher than in the majority of the Premier League clubs of the higher level Northern Premier League.

About fair. We should have had a penalty. They should have scored late on. There aren't enough goals in the team to reach the playoffs.

Birmingham City progress to the Vertu Cup final, beating Bradford Cirty in front of a 27,000 crowd at St Andrews @ Knighthead pasrk.
An excellent attendence on a cold Tuesday night, and the 4th home game in a ten day period.

See that the start was delayed by 11 minutes, not the first time that theis has happened at St Andrews.
