Class 67 Locomotive Questions.

hello. I am a railroad fanatic living in Korea.

While studying mechanics in high school and junior college, I also watch railroad cars.

I am writing this because I would like to ask a question related to the Class 67 locomotive.

1. Class 67 DB Cargo UK owned locomotive Question.

I am accessing the British Railways forum site and looking at the content.

DB Cargo UK site confirmed that some fleets are for sale.

I recently saw a photo of 67003 locomotive parts being dismantled. Is this a locomotive that is being scrapped?

The year of production was confirmed as 1999-2000.

I am writing this article because I want to know in detail.

2. Questions 67023, 67027.

I would like to know whether the two locomotives are operated by Colas Rail.

Wikipedia lists 67023 as GBRf and 67027 as Colas Rail.

I would like to know which railway operating company operates it.

I wrote it in Korean and translated it into English using Google Translator. Please understand.

I believe 67023 and 67027 are now GBRf, but I might be getting my wires crossed. I haven't heard anything about 67003, but then there are Forum members much more qualified than I am who will know.

I hope this helps!

They were GBRf for a bit, but believe due to unreliability they decided against keeping them and they have both returned to Colas!

However they’d already painted 027 into GBRf livery and if you put 67027 2024 into Flickr there are pics of it now in GB blue and orange with Colas logos!

That makes sense, evidently I'm just behind the times then!

yes. The Wikipedia site operates GBRf, so I wanted to know exactly.

I need to edit the nonsense content, but it's not working well.

I wouldn’t bother editing wikipedia. Even a ”first person” photograph is not accepted by them as evidence for a vehicle’s location or owner/operator.

67023 & 67027 seem to spend a lot of time at Westbury, I'm not sure what they are used for (if anything as they don't seem to move location much).

Class 67 67020 worked today, 1V33 Manchester Piccadilly depart 0627 to Cardiff, first outing for 67020 for many weeks, the service was cancelled near Church Stretton, "fault with traction equipment", was the fault in 67020 or the rolling stock set HD02?
The next leg of the diagram set 1W19 was a substitution of 67020 by 67022,( all information from RTT).

HD02 had the fault. The loco was fine.

Contributor on WNXX forum says that 67023 is going on hire to TfW as a Thunderbird, well you need a reliable loco for that don't you?

I have a question. I would like to know if the 67002 ETCS signal equipment installation work is in progress.

I would like to see the content, but I searched on Google, but there was not enough information, so I am asking.

67002 is in progress, there is no news yet in the public domain but I am sure there will be an announcement sooner or later.

Yes. I have a question. Has Unipart Rail ever produced Mark 1, Mark 3 TPWS products?

For reference, I'm talking about products that don't have the "tpws and aws operational." voice.

I posted a question before, but I didn't get any answers, so I'm curious and asking.

Hello. Thank you for showing interest in the UK railways.

30 Class 67 locomotives were constructed and all of them still exist today.

Many Class 67 locomotives are still active today. No Class 67 locomotives have been scrapped.

However, some are stored for many years, such as 67001, 67009, 67011, 67019, 67030 and the locomotive you said, 67003.

These stored Class 67 locomotives are examples that appeared on the DB Cargo UK website identified for sale.

The future for these stored Class 67 locomotives is unknown. They will probably be scrapped, however, this is not currently certain.

This forum can help you with your questions and understands you are trying your best to translate and learn.

Best of luck with enjoying railways in Korea. I have typed in this way to hopefully make it easier for you to copy into Google Translator.

Is there a reason why 67003 is being scrapped?

By the way, it is surprising that a train that was built 25 years ago is being scrapped.

Deltic's only did about 20 years before they started scrapping them.

The entirety of the BR Standard steam fleet (almost 1000 engines) lasted less than 18 years. Some failed to reach double figures.

Similarly, the first class 47s withdrawn and scrapped for reasons other than collision damage were at around the 25 year mark. And many of the relatively large and successful modernisation plan-era fleets such as classes 25, 40 and 45 failed to make it to a quarter century at full strength.

Weren't most of the Deltics scrapped at about 20 years old?

it has given up its internals for the others in the class

Apparently the engine went in 66652.

If they sell any as working locos they are probably going to want a lot for them as the engines will be worth a lot to them as spares for the 66 fleet.

Colas bought 2 several years ago and TfW own a working one too so they are known to sell servicable 67s.

Colas wanted locos which could do 100mph for test trains, and they were really the only option at the time - those two only appear to be have been offered for sale because Colas wanted them, and they probably paid quite a bit for them. More recently they've leased a number of HST power cars which they use for test trains.

TfW have reportedly bought two (one for spares), but doubtless they paid a fair whack for them too - the usefulness of the engines is going to mean they will be worth a long way above scrap prices. Plus this will make it more likely that TfW will stick with 67s for the longer term, i.e. hire income for DB on all the others used by TfW.

I’m surprised it isn’t 002 as that’s also junk (never been the same after Special Delivery decided to use a HAA as a skateboard in Bristol). Then again 003 has been non ETS for a considerable number of years, so it always had its cards marked.
