If you could afford to, where would you like to visit...

I'd like to visit friends in LA and Boston. Visit San Francisco and take a trip to Japan :)

An epic road trip across America would suit me!

I'll second that. Myself and a friend did one discuss doing it, but couldn't get the funds together.

I'd also like to visit some friends in Australia at some point in the future.

Too many places to list.

-I'd love to take a trip on the Trans-Siberian Railway across Russia from Moscow to Vladivostok on the Sea of Japan.

-Singapore and Malaysia.

-Somewhere in South America.

-I'd like to see relatives in Australia more (only been once).

I am very much looking forward to heading off to New York, Montreal and Toronto this summer. All booked for my first trip to the USA (although I have been to Canada once before). :D

The US of A would be not without its points of interest, but there seems to be far too much Politics going on at the moment, and too many sinister Government organisations watching you. I think I'd like to explore a few of the lesser frequented corners of Euope; parts of the former Yugoslavia and eastern Europe, and the Baltic states; they're also the places where you find some interesting locomotives.

Perhaps, but if you're really into Government organisations watching you then there is a travel agent based in Warrington offering tours to North Korea....

It's not the only connection between Warrington and North Korea either. Sorry, I couldn't resist!

Along the Nile

My grandparents went on a Nile cruise a few years ago and have never stopped talking about it. They love travel even though they're in their late '80s.

Actually, that kind of thing does sound fun. Air Koryo ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Air_Koryo ) have an interesting fleet, for starters.
They even have a low floor bus now!

I read a report about a tour, it seemed really interesting although I wasn't so keen on the idea of being accompanied by your guide spy 24/7 and the strange hotel with a "missing floor"...

Most of all I'd like to go to Germany (the Obersalzberg in particular) and then Canada.

Secondary would be the Sweden (sample all the cider), the Netherlands (not drug related), Amiens (it is still an important junction on the Paris-Calais railway?) and Finland

Closer to home I'd like to visit Snowdonia again

Lastly a huge worldwide cider tour

On the theme of Communist, or once Communist or might be again before long, who knows, countries, there's Russia, of course; not just for the Trans-Siberian which everyone talks about (and I suspect that'd be a candidate for Most Boring Line after three or four days of steppe), but the little out-of-the-way corners that no one's ever heard of. Travelling around by local train; travelling through the forest behind 4000 hp diesels on two coaches heated by wood burning stoves and so on.

And there's all the little reguional and rural airports where An-2s and Tu-134s are still the most common types.

This http://www.politicaltours.com/ is possibly the website referred to in an earlier post. Some of the tour destinations look fantastic, and a friend and I have already started to save for a post-university trip to North Korea.

I'd love to get back to Zimbabwe and Zambia at some stage, and I'd love to go back to where we used to live in Kenya.

^ That does sound fun,
Our prices do not include the cost of flights to Beijing and Pyongyang. The cost of the plane to Pyongyang from Beijing is €255.00 and can be purchased before departure. We can make a reservation on your behalf. The return trip is by train and is included in the price.
A flight on Air Koryo for only $255 and the trip by train back thrown in!
(well, ok, you have to get to Beijing first, but that's an incidental detail).

I'd like to do a trip driving up the East coast of Australia, starting with a few days in Melbourne and ending either in Brisbane or possibly going all the way to Cairns, stopping off in the various towns and cities on the way where I have family.

I'd also like to do a roadtrip across America in something like an MX5.

Oh I'd love to drive to the South of France and Monaco - take the Astra round the F1 Circuit at a more sedate speed :)

When we went to China a few years ago, we got a really good price by flying with Aeroflot via a stopover in Moscow. Only a few hundred £ from memory. And if you wished you could break journey in Moscow and take the full tour of the Communist countries.

I'd love to visit North Korea, but I think there's high odds of me being branded a "journalist" by the authorities and being forced to pay more for the tour of the model farms/villages etc.

A few years ago I drove Sydney - Brisbane and back and loved every minute. Did the Pacific Highway on the way up and the New England Highway on the way back. We called in to as many towns as we could along the way and found the whole trip fabulous. Also did Sydney - Melbourne on another trip, out via the coast road and back via the Hume Highway. Cannot recommend it highly enough.

I'd love to visit Australia again and drive 000's of km to explore the interior and the Northern half of the continent, maybe Brisbane - Cairns - Darwin - Broome sort of thing. Next on the list would be the south island of NZ.

For some reason I'd like to visit Pitcairn Island too. Just the remoteness of it all seems to be a big draw, get away from it all sort of thing miles away from civilisation.

Aaahh one day !!! :D:D

I've done the majority of the East coast before with my family, but I'd love to drive it myself someday. We've done it twice, once in 2001 and again in 2008. There's a possibility of going again this year if I can pay for the flights there and back, so I might get to drive this time.
The first time round, we started in the North up at Port Douglas and worked our way down to Broulee for christmas, then to Sydney for new year. The second time we started in Melbourne, went to Gerroa for christmas and had new year in Sydney again.

I love Australia and can't wait to go back again, especially to get to see all the family I've not seen for years.

If you are branded a journalist in North Korea you probably have a few bigger things to worry about than paying a little extra. Like going to a prison camp.

Antarctica, top of the list, the last true wilderness on Earth. Otherwise, various specific places are on the list. Cape Kennedy, Baikonur and Woomera (for the space connections); Vancouver, South Africa, Pategonia and pretty much all of Australia (for the wildlife); and certain parts of China while there is still steam running. Also Dargeeling, because one of my ancestors went out there, and I want to see the plantation he ran.

If it were possible, I'd like to take certain people to Tranquility Base (on the Moon) so that I could point to the footprints and laugh, but that's another story.
