BR always said 1 minute saved equalled a 1% increase in revenue. Not sure if that would still be valid ?. If true then 12% could give a significant amount of money to spend
As I live just outside Sleaford I am very aware of the track layout.
Maybe I misread the post but I was assuming it was referring to Lincoln to Skegness and Peterborough to Skegness. in which case reversal at Sleaford is necessary
Lincoln to Skegness would go via Sleaford station and the loop therefore NO reversal.
Peterborough to Skegness MUST reverse at Sleaford station, to go via the loop only permits a north direction (ie to Lincoln)
With the Trans Pennine upgrade they are saying to go quicker avoid going slowly. In other words you don`t need to upgrade to 125 mph at huge expense when going from 20 to 40 mph will achieve probably greater time savings. I wonder about various sections of the line such as the crawl out of...
