    Spandau Ballet or Thrash Metal

I'd put it in the thrash/grindcore camp as well, though more UK grindcore than American eg Napalm Death. As for the advert ... well, clearly lying about a typical flight experience, so why should I believe them about the trains? I've been inspired to pop some Extreme Noise Terror on the...

If a train is booked to stop, must it, in fact, physically do so?

Why aren't stations with so few passengers request stops? A passenger less than one every four trains. Assuming not every passenger is travelling by themselves, in reality even more infrequent.

    Snoring.

On another forum (for runners), someone recently mentioned curing their snoring by wearing a pinkie ring. I know nothing more than that. (I've met them and they seem reasonably normal, not just some crazy person.)

Nice places you've visited recently in the UK.

There is an area lying roughly between Glasgow and Stirling which is rather like that described in post 4. Round the edges is rolling and pleasant with small towns and villages, the interior is sparsely populated (empty in parts) and feels wild and remote. I don't think I'm risking it being...

Trivia: Small towns with 'internal' services

I don't think that anyone who had ever visited both Stirling and Alloa would agree with that. Nearly seven miles by rail. In different local council areas.

Balloch Pier, any future for the station?

So, this line would be all of around 800m? It would be pointless as a means of transport, and near pointless as an attraction in itself (I'm basing any thoughts on it being a miniature railway).

Question regarding BritRail pass and SPT Daytripper

    Daytripper currently £21.00 or £11.90.

Llandudno (Junction) - Euston: No advances?

One which takes a very long time to wend its way to its destination, due to stopping everywhere to have the cattle trucks loaded up. I mean it as a historical reference, not as a comment on the current clientele

Llandudno (Junction) - Euston: No advances?

1336 Llandudno Junction - Crewe (arr 1454) - £14 first class advance 1537 Crewe - Euston (arr 1853) - £9.50 standard advance. Wow, that second one is a cow train - no wonder there's seats. Hardly ideal, but cheap.

    Two new rovers from Scotrail

The Daytripper also gives you most buses, and the Daytripper and Roundabout give you the Subway. The Glasgow Days Out is only trains.

    Two new rovers from Scotrail

Or at least Dunfermline which I'd rate as a bit more interesting for the tourist than Kirkcaldy. My interest is that they both stretch as far as Stirling so since I'm near there I'm considering the possibilities. A ticket is little more than a return to Tweedbank (with Club 50 discount) and...

Flying Scotsman in the Central Belt

Cheers, I went to Culross and someone mentioned the water stop. Drat, found out to late! Hundreds out to see the train. In retrospect, I would have been better at Kincardine.

Flying Scotsman in the Central Belt

I was thinking about going over Alloa way for a look, possibly when it has a 16 minute scheduled stop at Alloa loop, though I would like to see it along the coast at Culross. Then I noticed something on RTT which puzzled me: Charlestown Jn 1853 Longannet S.B. 1953 I am fairly familiar with...

Springburn to Glasgow Queen St, either via the Cowlairs chord to High Level or via Alexandra Parade to Low Level.
