    Class 730 LNR & WMR Delivery/test Updates

Is the Wolverhampton - Walsall route worked exclusively by cl730s now? Or are they on a regular diagram?

Class 230 units training/introduction on the Borderlands line: updates

TfW's units are diesel electric hybrids, so the load on the engines isn't quite as high as LNR's units which draw power from the eninges alone. TfW's units can accelerate from a standstill with power just coming from the batteries and I assume ancillary things like the aircon with draw power...

Class 230 units training/introduction on the Borderlands line: updates

Thankfully TfW's do have aircon, whereas I don't think LNR's did.

Class 230 units training/introduction on the Borderlands line: updates

it's possible we could be without trains until the 3rd then. So more imperative than ever that they work!

Class 230 units training/introduction on the Borderlands line: updates

That's what groups like the Wrexham-Bidston Rail User's and Growthtrack360 are hoping and campaigning for. I hear even the Welsh Government is working on developing plans for 4tph to operate through to Liverpool. But will require charging facilities at the Wrexham end and additional block...

Class 230 units training/introduction on the Borderlands line: updates

They no longer have cab end doors so wouldn't be allowed to go into the loop and I don't think vehicles with diesel tanks could work regularly in the tunnels, other than the odd Class 73 hauled inspection train. The current battery configuration wouldn't have enough range for the engines to be...

Class 230 units training/introduction on the Borderlands line: updates

Perhaps the time of year when the unit was tested on the line plus drivers getting used to the units had something to do with it. I've no doubt they should be quicker, but I was advised they would only work the skip stop services. Noticed the 230s that have been out the last 2 weeks seem to be...

Class 230 units training/introduction on the Borderlands line: updates

TfW already own the 230s, issues around operating them were to do with ongoing maintenance and intellectual property rights, but I'm assuming TfW has come to an agreement similar to GWR.

Class 230 units training/introduction on the Borderlands line: updates

I spoke to someone senior from TfW at the launch of the cl197s and they all but confirmed that they were not able to keep to time on the line. However a cl197 will be used alongside 230s on the Wrexham-Bidston line once the half hourly service is introduced as TfW think they will only have 3...

Class 230 units training/introduction on the Borderlands line: updates

The ORR has finally agreed a half hourly service can be introduced, but with a gap to allow for freight movements during the day. But until TfW makes a decision about the Class 230s the service can't be introduced. I'm not sure if Class 150s could be relied upon to keep to time even if there...

CAF Civity for TfW: News and updates on introduction.

Anyone know which diagrams 197s will be working this week? Would like to experience one on the North Wales coast to see how they ride on decent CWR, as the ride on the Conwy Valley wasn't great.
