The 'soiling' offense could presumably be avoided by removing one's shoes before putting feet up? Whether that's more or less antisocial depends how pongy the offender's feet are I suppose.

Non-contrast doors are crew only. Contrasting doors are for passenger (and any other) use. On XC Voyagers the door at the far end with First Class is (in theory) available for passenger use, but on Meridians it leads directly to the kitchen/prep area. The red door is what all the Meridian...

The Meridians have a different fabric/moquette to what EMT installed on everything else. It's more smooth and less carpety than what everything else got.

I recall in the days of Meridian introduction there was a lot of hoo-har about how units weren't as flexible, and unlike an HST couldn't be easily remarshalled to change formations and lengths. Then East Midlands Trains changed them all, first dropping the 9s to 8s and boosting their 4 car...

I don't buy that it's impossible to have both an Aztec code and whatever information needed printed on a card sized ticket. Lose the oversized borders, rotate so it's portrait format. Loads of space.

How are they going to form 3 car 158s? My understanding is that all the gangway adaptor plates available are in use with GWR.

Another difference is that the 'front' vestibule can be locked out on 159s, although the former TPE 158s were also been similarly modified by SWT (and at least one of those is now in operation elsewhere).
