Which bit of "Liverpool have won the top division more times than anyone else. 18 times" did I misunderstand?
You are unreal using that as a quote for what I was saying. Go and have a word with yourself. That is frankly pathetic. Rupert Murdoch might have a job for you.

Eh?

There's no way "Liverpool have won the top division more times than anyone else." can be misinterpreted. There's only one top division.

Maybe fowler9 means they won the Football League 18 times. But you can never be sure with him, as he continues to call the Premier League the Premiership, 12 years after they changed the name.
Mate if you miss quote me one more time I am going to the admin.

Please explain what you mean then. I have no idea what you're on about. It looks fairly clear that you're trying to claim Liverpool have won the top division more times than Manchester United. If you mean something else please explain it in words I'll understand.

When did I misquote you?
Learn to read. I was talking about people saying we have never won the Premiership as though we had never won the top division. You blatantly quoted half of one sentence and half of another completely changing the meaning.

You should see the Redcafe (Man Utd) forum. Someone really needs to post Samaritans info on there, some of the posts are frightening.
The BBC comments pages are basically unreadable - just people insulting each other based on the teams they support. At least it's (usually) much more civilised over here.

At the other end of the spectrum - just a few days after captaining the club to a second consecutive promotion, Steve McNulty was released by Tranmere.
At 35, I don't think he was likely to step up to League One level, but it's still a reminder that it can be a tough business.

Well I've been a fan all my life as have all my friends that go, so what are we then?....

It must be strange being a City fan. I have a lot of respect for the old hands - I mean, I remember when you were adrift in League One. If you were there then, then good on you for riding out the rollercoaster!

I don't have too much time for the Johnny come Latelys though. Every club has them but City have quite a lot, due to their recent success. We just hear more from the latter day loudmouths than the hard core of those aged 30 or over.

It's just that certain club has a lot of supporters who live in the past and who think the entire world is out to get them!
Also doesn't help that the club are perennial bottlers.

They won the European Cup less than 24 hours ago.

Not that far into the past and hardly the sign of a group of bottlers.

Well you know in the last 24 hours I've had a blue (Evertonian) tell me Liverpool are Fascists because of the penalty we got. Someone else on here whining that we'll never here the end of it because Liverpool won and all I've seen is fans of other teams moaning about us getting a trophy which we did well to win.

I post on a football forum elsewhere in the world wide web and the meltdowns began as soon as the Origi goal went in. Laughable really

I understand Liverpool have won the top division many times, and am not disagreeing with you on that. I'm older than you and remember their success in the seventies and eighties.
The bit I replied to was when you said "Liverpool have won the top division more times than anyone else.", which is not true. What you wrote before that doesn't change the meaning of that sentence.
Maybe you could edit your post to say Liverpool have won the Football League title more than anyone else. Then it would make sense. And it would make it look like I'd misquoted you...
Anyway, this is my last post on the subject, you should still be celebrating, not arguing with me.

Congratulations to Liverpool, I wanted them to win. In 2015/16 Spurs fans were the most unpleasant bunch of fans I've ever known, so I'd hate for them to have some success.

Look mate, no hard feelings. My point was that if someone wants to say Liverpool have never won the premier league in the sense that the premier league is somehow different from winning the top division in the country then Liverpool have the most titles in the First Division. Does that mean we have to separate Man United's first division titles and their Premier League titles? Of course not. Man U have won the top division more times than us, it just had different names. Same for the European Cup and Champions League.

Frankly, I have absolutely no idea why you seem more bothered about Liverpool winning the Champions League instead of the domestic treble your team won.

As for "perennial bottlers", we've just won our sixth European Cup and finished second in the Premier League with 97 points. That's not a sign of bottlers.

I was just stating the obvious. There is no need for you to be obnoxious or arrogant.

Do tell me what trophies both this year's CL finalists won last season, as I could not find anything through a quick search.

Also, do tell me if both the original and the 2012 incarnation of your hometown side have ever played in the top flight or have participated in any of the European tournaments, as I could not find anything through a quick search.

Sigh.

Celtic winning the European Cup in 1967 was a fantastic achievement, not because of the mechanism in which they competed ( they only played 9 games), but because they did so with a team of fantastically talented local players including Jimmy Johnstone and Bobby Murdoch. All of the team were born within 30 miles of Celtic Park and all but 1 within 10!

No idea Villa won in 1982. The key was probably the results in Berlin and Kiev.

Available for infant school nativity productions this coming Christmas season.

he might be more successful in that role ;)

Is anyone else here watching the some of the international tournaments on freesports (Toulon tournament and U20 world cup apparently). I've only caught a couple of games sadly.

They've not been too bad though, being one goal ahead in a knockout game is quite exciting as a neutral!

Quite agree but where I am all I hear is cockney reds and cockney scousers asking ME how long I've supported City. The bare faced cheek of it is beyond comprehension but that's football fans

Where are you from and why do you support City? If you are from somewhere where everyone speaks Cockney and you support Man City they may just be interested. But seriously, it is cheeky.

That is cheeky, particularly if (as I assume), you aren't in your teens or twenties!

I watched the first half of Chile v Japan yesterday. Not much at stake, but Japan's forward play was excellent. They were 5-1 up at half time!

When I was 3 I moved 7 miles from Maine Road with no professional team between.

Sorry to hear you get hassle. City fans are an easy target as are Liverpool fans and I live here. Just ignore it or ask them why they support who they support.

The slightest bit of success and most teams will gain support if they do well. When we won promotion loads of folk (of all ages) came out of the woodwork wanting tickets (suspiciously for the games against Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool rather than Brighton or Burnley) and claimed they'd been at games in the 80s and 90s. Those folk are for the most part conspicuous by their absence now that normality has returned!

Of course one would hope that even if someone starts out as a "glory hunter" they'll stick around after the party and help clean up!

Were The Netherlands not very highly rated in a recent international qualifying section for a noted trophy?
Failed to make 2016 Euros (24 others did make it, it appeared harder not to qualify than make it!!) and the 2018 World Cup.
The improvement since has been remarkable, the fall due to the loss of the experienced players that reached the 2010 World Cup Final and 2014 third place and the shortage of talent between those and the youngsters coming through today.
Despite the improvement, the NL's lack a winger in the mold of Overmars or Robben, and a striker (Bergkamp/Van Persie).

We don't care about Scotland's mens not qualifying for major tournaments as we've always got Ingerlund to provide top quality, uncensored comedy live on the tv for us.
