Something struck me this last week on returning to the forum... Sheffield feels like it’s been left behind on the Northern England new rolling stock bonanza of the last few years, LNER has its shiny new 801 fleet streaking through Doncaster, York, Leeds etc... TPE has rolled out its new Nova fleet in Manchester, Leeds, Scarborough, Liverpool etc, Hull Trains rocking up with its new 802s, even Northern is keeping it’s shiny new trains in Manchester and West Yorkshire... to add insult to injury, the MML isn’t being wired, HS2 has diverted its mainline past Sheffield after the debacle over Sheffield Victoria being pushed by the councillors of Sheffield... the shining light is the cast of LNER HSTs for the next 12 months, followed by the delights of the 180 fleet before we eventually get the 804 fleet in three years from now... at least we have the wonderful purple 222 unit to shield our eyes from ! Oh, we did the 399 fleet too... whoop whoop !
