Damage much worse than seen in the pictures. Large portion of bottom deck has been damaged due to smoke and water damage.

Not good. If the lower deck is damaged as well, I'd say that's the bus beyond economcal repair.

Scrapped then?
I honestly don't know what the fate of this vehicle will be but an number of the panels under the side advertisements have warped quite badly also due to the heat which isn't noticeable in the pictures of the vehicle online.

I believe the vehicle will be covered up if not already done so with an harp and accessed in due course.

That all depends on the insurance, the bus is only around 1 year old, if that so it may turn out that it's cheaper to repair than to replace the bus. ADL will be happy that it wasn't a fault with the vehicle though and they won't have to cover the cost. Perhaps if they actually manage to catch who did it, they should force them to pay for a new bus out of their own pockets.

ive only seen the right hand side after the it was put out but the pictures during it seem to show the left hand side on fire a bit more than the left?

First are self insured and even if they do catch the culprit it’s highly unlikely they’ll be able to recover upwards of £250,000 from a person who finds it acceptable to go around throwing flares in buses.

Noticed ‘the one’ E300s are looking a bit shabby now. They’re the oldest of all the enviros having been introduced first but their livery is pretty faded and parts of ‘the one’ branding has started to peel and fade. I thought they would have been re-livered first and branded but not seen anything.

Could this be a hint that the 1 could be up for new buses?

I don't expect new buses on them but it would suit me so much as they're my most used buses by far and have been for the whole time they've been around. Definitely worth it with how busy they can be constantly too. Been look a bit ragged seat wise for the last 18 months/2 years tbh and the deckers on the 1C/1D are far from ideal too

at least the branding has stayed on better and longer than Lothian Country’s X38 branding which 2 months down the line has already come off in most buses

probably because all the branded ones have had flares thrown at them

Anyone know anything about the changes on the 2nd February are?

All I've seen mentioned is route and stopping places changes for the 240,255,263,267 but nothing about what those changes actually are

All 4 are being rerouted in the city centre towards BBS they will now operate Ingram St onto Queen St

I wonder if the objective here is to reduce the number of bus movements around George Square. From my observations, before the 21 was re-routed to Cochrane Street, usually ( but not always ), once traffic passed the traffic lights at the corner of Glassford Street and Ingram Street, the lights at the junction of South Frederick Street and Ingram Street were " green " and so traffic flowed reasonably freely through these junctions to the junction of South Frederick Street and George Square.

It would seem that with the re-routeing, traffic could be held at the corner of Queen Street and Ingram Street which could be rather congested , particularly when/if bus stop "IA" is re-instated.

Council plans for George Square propose the closure of the east and west sections of the square, with all parking around the square completely removed. St. Vincent St (already one way heading west) would become bus/taxi/cycle only (at the square) and the same for George St (already one way east). Whilst the bus companies will see the positives in more on-street parking being removed and cars being excluded 7am-7pm, it does give First a problem in that buses arriving into the city around the square will no longer be able to perform two right turns and a left to get towards Buchanan Bus Station. Not sure how they will propose getting around that, either sending the buses along St Vincent St and up either W. Nile st or - worse - Hope St adding on more time and further congesting a heavy bus route. Alternatively they go back to the old SBG days and have the buses entering the city via "back streets" but that's away from main/busy areas passengers want to go. So will they be sent up W. Nile st and if so they will need to remove some of the on street parking there to enable buses to perform a right turn. Any thoughts?

Is it just me or does the E200MMC look so much better with full sized wheels?!

I think the bigger wheels improve the smoothness of the journey not to mention how much better they look. My issue with the E300s and E200MMCs was the smaller wheels made them feel more flimsy. I get it’s more environmentally friendly and makes the bus lighter effectively but imo bigger wheels really do look better.

Yes the smaller wheels also give more harsher ride plus the steering lock is awful on them where with the larger wheels it isn’t a problem.

Never actually thought about this tbh. Always felt a bit bouncier on an E300 compared to bigger wheeled E200 MMCs

Assume by "bigger wheeled E200 MMCs" you're refering to the new BYDs?

The reason the smaller wheels are popular is because they help reduce fuel/weight.

Think that's the ones. I'm not a wheel expert at all tbh. Yeah that's always a good positive
