UK's 'best and worst' railway stations named

I must say I like Edinburgh as I find it very easy to get around but if you've not been there before the station plan on National Rail Enquiries is helpful

    CrossCountry's catering offering (2015-2017)

I suggested to XC on Twitter that they could maybe serve hot drinks between Aberdeen and Edinburgh as a compromise of those who miss out on the meal due to going to one of the Edinburgh stations, they replied "Fair suggestion. We'll pass your comments on."

    Stena Line Shuttle Bus

Thanks, according to Stena it's £2 for an adult or free with a rail and sail so I've got all the info I need now. Thanks once again for your help everybody.

    Stena Line Shuttle Bus

Thanks, that's a great help, it's because it said "for alighting only" that I thought "no that can't be it"

    Stena Line Shuttle Bus

Hi, I was wondering if anyone had a photo of where you get the Stena Line shuttle bus from Hamilton Square, I'm asking as I've tried to tried to figure out from street view but this time it's been of no help so hoping someone here could help. Thanks in advance

Trivia: Platforms which have no trains scheduled to call there.

There's the disused platform at Aberdeen though I'm sure trains used to stop there a long time ago in the 80's or am I wrong?

    Train Station

I use the term "railway station" particularly when Googling a station for information about it but I'm also quite happy with the term "train station" though I'll use the former more myself and when telling someone I'm going there.

First Class who has the best?

I've only used VTEC and I enjoy as once a year I treat myself for my birthday with a trip from MTS-EDB, and I really like the new leather seats.

    Dundee - new station concourse

I've been going up each week watching the station slowly take shape, I'm really looking forward to it being ready next year, hopefully.

VTWC doors closing 4 minutes before departure

Quite right, I've found that by looking on Realtime the 0940 GLC-EUS regularly departs 1 minute early, the 2 minute cut off is ample time in my opinion

    Pokémon Go and the rails.

I play it and you don't need to be looking at your screen all the time as your phone vibrates when one spawns and as long as your in a safe location I.e. a pavement you don't need to be anywhere near the platform or the tracks.

    Railway Stations Without Tracks!

I was thinking of Montrose (Caledonian) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Montrose_(Caledonian)_railway_station as it hasn't been mentioned yet

"Facing" vs "Back" to direction of travel.

I don't mind either way but if I can I get a facing window /table seat as that way I can put things on the table if I need to

What was the first station to have auto announcements?

I like the announcer at Montrose, very clear, any idea who it is and if she's anywhere else on the Scottish network

On time train that is late

It's like the 0656 from Hyndland to Central, RTT regulary claims it arrives into platform 14 on time which is a high level platform when it really arrives I think it's platform 16 which is one of the low level platforms, it's just getting confused like some of these systems can do.

    Scotland Route Study

I'm disappointed but not surprised there's nothing for up here-Aberdeen to Queen Street/Haymarket electrification(only section of the ECML not electrified) but then again we're always the last to get any rail improvements.

What do you think of your local station?

Montrose, a nice sized station though I miss the canopy that used to be there, it's within walking distance and not too far if you have to use the bus to come into the main part of the town

How accurate is the data shown on RealTimeTrains?

I've been using Realtimetrains lately as well and it's been showing that the 06:56 from Hyndland to Cumbernauld has been calling at platform 14 which is the high level of Glasgow Central yet when I asked Scotrail themselves they say it called at platform 16 which is the low level which makes...

    Scotrail First Advance Tickets Question

They used to other them when First operated the franchise but it looks like Abellio may have stopped them hence why I asked my question so as to find out what the story is now

    Scotrail First Advance Tickets Question

I was looking to do Montrose to Edinburgh but every time I search on any operators site it's only First Anytime fares I can find not the First Advance which is what I'd prefer if possible, thanks once again
