LNER Azuma's on Cambridge diversions, diesel or electric?

Diesel on the diversion, all electric was tried from Hitchin Junction to Shepreth Branch Junction, but the number of additional units caused caused a lot of issues Change over probably took place at Stevenage to avoid blocking platforms at Hitchin (esp heading away from London)

Class 376 refurbishment in 2023 - no air con or toilets to be added

Same parent company, yes but maintaince wise, it could be a bit of a struggle - the TL depots have to do a fine balancing act to make sure that theyre not over stocked on some occasions - though with the 455s gone, I wonder how much space is now available at Selhurst to do heavy maintence on...

Most confusing National Rail Station diagram.

City Thameslink is a bit of a mess, one of the entrances is the wrong way round so north is actually South facing

Options for more Elizabeth line trains west of Paddington?

Im not entirely familiar with the planned platform layout at OOC or with the track layout where Crossrail meets the Great Western but i'd think that when services are running through from the core section onto the GWML (Westbound), they'd want to avoid terminating a long train like that in a 2...

Trivia: Stations served more by other TOCs than the managing one

I think there are a few on the Thameslink routes into Kent like Bat & Ball on the Sevenoaks and Higham on the Rainhams, both managed by Southeastern. Streatham possibly also falls into this with it being managed by Southern but Thameslink (under normal running) have more services.

Why do some stations leave automatic ticket barriers open?

I'm only familiar with the Cubic E1/E2 gates used around the Southern network (similar machines are used by other TOCs and TfL) Some older gates have a mechanism that holds the last 5 (or so) tickets before they go into the bin within the gate which makes ticket retrieval easy. However many of...

    Southern May 2022 timetable change

The up trains on 1 only appears to be in the off peak periods. In the morning it’s all on 3 and between 1700-2030 in the evening. But tbh, the 2T in the old non-Covid timetable didn’t really run at them times through ECR and started at Norwood

New London & The South East map (digital)

Could it be like how Southern was originally called South Central as a shadow franchise when Govia originally took over from Connex?

Class 379 updates (all are OFF LEASE)

By lack of DOO system, do you mean incompatibility of the DOO systems on both units? All 377s have body side mounted cameras like the later built Electrostar models (376s excepted)

Class 379 updates (all are OFF LEASE)

For the moment, yes. But I guess the experience gained from the installation on the HEX units will help with the GTR units when the time comes.

Are Class 700’s really that bad?

Despite the lack of padding in the seats, I had witnessed a person throw his bag on one of the facing seats on a 700. I’m just thankful to have had a mask with me that day!
