Jersey Trip 13-21 July (train strike advice)

I have a holiday booked in Jersey traveling via ferry from Portsmouth on the 14th and returning via Poole on the 21st. Looking at the SWR journey planner for trains to Portsmouth from London on the 13th it suggests that 'Buses replace trains Haslemere and Petersfield' on all the services via...

    Timetable booklets

Just been through Derby station and after 3 years of no timetables on the racks, I have just picked up the new Cross Country booklets for the timetable change later this month. Hopefully EMR are not far behind as I do prefer paper timetables.

    EMR & Hull Trains 18-19/02

Hello, I have noticed that Hull Trains are diverting into St Pancras this weekend was thinking of going on one of these services due to the different routing. Are these services likely to be busy? Also are the EMR services likely to be full with the ECML being shut?

    Poor regulation?

Yesterday morning I got 1V04 0704 Nottingham - Cardiff from Willington which left Nottingham on time and ran into Derby 3 mins late at 0737 with a scheduled departure of 0738. While watching the train on Open Train Times map not long after the arrival the incoming Matlock service 2A15 got the...

    C2C class 720 updates

Walking along London Road earlier in Derby I noticed a 720 with a pink line on the driving vehicle which goes from the cab to the roof and I think pink doors. So I'm assuming this is one of the first C2C units to be built (well 2 coaches of it).

    RMT Industrial Action - EMR

Just to inconvenience EMR passengers even more the RMT are now going to strike on the London routes over safety of 12 car class 360 units. Personally I don't get it as other TOC's run trains without staff on portion of the train. Does anyone know what the revised timetable would look like as I...

    EMR diagrams

I thought it might be useful to have a single place for the frequently requested diagrams for EMR with the introduction of the 170 and 180's and less HST's about. This can be updated when required to show the progress of the fleet change over the next few years. Hopefully this will be of use to...

    Is this level crossing unique?

Like the title says is this crossing unique? It use to just be a manned gated crossing which the attendant would close/open the gates but in the last 6 months Network Rail have added the 'wig wag' lights as shown. These are controlled by the attendant which he or she turns on and off before...

    West Coast Train dispatch methods

Can someone tell me why Avanti and beforehand Virgin would use 'RA' indicators instead of the Train Manager giving the driver 2 on the buzzer? The only other time I have seen them used is on driver only services.

    Condor ferries

Last week I travelled on the Condor Liberation from Poole for a day trip to Guernsey. The days sailing was brought forwards by around two hours which didn't bother me and it was a really good day out.
