I have just noticed the above on RTT. It says standard class seating only although it is booked as a 221. Also its journey from Crewe to Euston is via Stoke on Trent.

Is this a one off journey or is it more regular?

Why is it advertised as standard class only when it seems to be a Voyager?

It's an STP working so that makes me think it's a one-off. At a guess, they are probably expecting high demand with it being the day before a Bank Holiday so are taking pressure off the Glasgow-Euston train that should be just behind it.

It's in NRE as well. Quite common for VT to run reliefs as Standard only, it means there is no need to provide First Class weekday onboard service.

It could be running with first class declassified.

It will be; they always did run reliefs in that form.

Its a WTT Friday only extra. STP today because its not a Friday.

Always though it was odd it is due to leave Crewe at the same time the Glasgow-Euston passes when its a conflicting route out of 5 to the Stoke line.

1A76 is a normally a Friday's only (this week Thursday) additional from Preston to Euston. It gets the voyager to London for strengthening another voyager service. It runs via Alsager & Stoke to keep route knowledge fresh for driver & guard.
