2 carriages from 221143 and 221142 returned to 221144. While XC to make a new set, reduced 221136 carriage and 221140 carriage to let virgin be five carriages. Then the carriages from 221142 and 43 inserted into 221144 to bring it back as an extra voyager for xc.
Incorrect.

No, 221144 is now formed by the two spare driving cars (the "New Vehicles"), a coach from 221143 - Most likely the vehicle with the shop which was originally from 144, to convert to the luggage area in Coach D (the "Exchanged Vehicle") and a coach from either 221136 or 221140 (which ever one was not swapped with the "Exchanged Vehicle"). What is in brackets is how the creation of the 58th Voyager was described in the Cross Country direct award franchise agreement.

If only VTWC had been allocated 221101-120 and XC with 221121-221144 when the franchises split, this whole absurd saga could have been avoided. At least all 220/1 vehicles are now back in use on such busy routes.

Then this melody drama would’ve been needed. Before the hsts came in they did have extra five super voyagers?

Presumably someone at VT or the DfT thought they had two or three workings on which a four car 221 was deemed suitable. After all, the four car 221s were originally ordered back at the start of the Voyager revolution against the North Wales workings.

I saw it this morning heading to Newcastle. It’s currently en route to Guildford.
