Had something very similar to this as a rail replacement bus on Southeastern once. At 6' 3" the only seats I could physically fit my legs in to and sit down were those in the front row due to the incredibly tight seat pitch.

The staff refused to accept it was an issue and said it was because I am apparently very unusually tall - they were adamant that it was not usually a school bus!

They shouldn't be used for anything other than school work. A coach firm tried to foist one of these on our rugby club (A sport well known for having supporters built for comfort, not for speed) for an away trip once-they were told in no uncertain terms that we would be cancelling a lucrative contract with them if they tried it on again. The driver told me unofficially that he would have refused to have driven it if we had more than half filled the capacity & was equally annoyed at how we had been treated.

These vehicles presumably must have a weight limit- if you fill it to capacity with 10 year olds it must comply but full of adults?

Don't know what would happen with a coach there, but a 3500kg 17 seat minibus is overloaded when full of adults even when there is no luggage at all.

An additional issue must also be the weight distribution. A coach normally used for say holiday coach tour work will have its centre of gravity lowered by all the cases in the hold- on RR it may have none in there at all and all the weight up higher in the seats- surely that must have an effect?

Just to update people I was on a First RRB from FKG to Edinburgh Park this morning at 0835 and you guessed it....

A three by two - seriously weird with little legroom and silly seatbelts blocking up half the seat :p

Were you able to use the seat belts?
