I still need the ELR for coverage
Sounded like a good day with some winning loco action

It's kind of spectacular though when you think about what year it is.
37403 seems to be a very regular loco on the coast. Any idea which other ones can appear from time to time?
A fair point. In 2004 we were witnessing the death of loco haulage everywhere but Anglia and the sleepers. Thirteen years later and the position is much rosier
37401/402/403/409/423/424 & 425 have all worked. I don't know if any of the other DRS ones (37405/419/422) have appeared as these seem to be regulars on the Norwich turns instead.
Sadly; the best one, 37429, will never appear.
Nor will 37415 - never one of the best members of the fleet, in my opinion, but my mileage off it currently (and, barring my future possession of a TARDIS, for the rest of eternity) sits on 965.
Thanks for that. They're all ex Scottish ones aren't they. Did any of 37426 - 431 survive then? I must admit I still lots of 37/4s, I think I've only about ten of them.
I can confirm that 37422 has been on the Coast. I had it back in October 2015 though I'm not sure whether that was intentional, as the diagram it was on was initially worked by 142091 due to the loco hauled set going bang.

Thanks for the info 37038, very interesting. It's quite surprising that none of the Welsh ones survived. Is that just luck of the draw then or another reason?
The first 37/4 I saw was 427 in about 1986 and looking at my book the only ones I ever went behind were 426 and 431. I also cabbed 37426 at Bristol Temple Meads in 1987.
24 different 37s have worked on the Cumbrian coast and, for anyone that's interested, the list is below:
37218 37259 37401 37402 37403 37405 37409 37419 37422 37423 37424 37425 37602 37603 37604 37605 37606 37608 37609 37610 37611 37612 37688 37716.
37402 is by far and away the most regular performer, with 37401 and the now stored 37409 2nd and 3rd respectively.
As for the the 37/4s, only 37424/558 is eluding me, of the ones currently mainline, that is. Rather frustratingly it's been on the Cumbrian turns lately and I can't get over for it.
425 will always be a favourite here, closely followed by 402. Don't get me wrong, they're all good but I've had some amazing performances from 425!
Thanks for that list mate. I've managed to have 18 different 37s with Northern in the last couple of years.
The six that I've not had with Northern are 37405 37602 37603 37608 37610 and 37716, although I've had some of them previously on railtours and in BR days.![]()
