Strongly recommend you try to visit any box you have an interview for. Not only is it great to see the rota plus possibly meet someone you could be potentially working with, it obviously looks good for preparation at interview.

Whilst not absolutely essential, I can tell you from experience this certainly helped in my case...

Edit: Do not just turn up at the box expecting to visit by the way, arrange any visit through recruitment who can contact the LOM for permission!

Well done! I also applied but alas no news for me so I guess it's another write off.
Regarding TOC's,On the network careers website, career search page, if you click on map view and find the station in question, clicking on it will list the TOC's that run through there. Hope that helps! Good luck for the interview!

Watford closed years ago.
Aye, long gone are the days when each region had its own schools. I enjoyed Derby.
Does anyone know anything about Whissendine SB. Which toc uses the line and what form of signalling is involved??
Cross Country are the most regular TOC, with limited EMT services passing. Freight is provided by numerous FOC's. Take a look on something like Real Time Trains, probably use Oakham as your reference point, to see how busy it is day or night.

AFAIK signalling is Absolute Block both ways, mostly colour light signals and it also supervises two Grade 1 crossings.

A word of caution for anyone attending signalling school. Conduct yourselves in a respectful manner. Understand the Drugs & Alcohol policy, even when you're not in the classroom and be careful of the use of social media. There have been a couple of incidents recently that have led to a short career on Network Rail.

Apart from that enjoy the course and best of luck.

Best of luck mate, be prepared for a very long wait.

Thanks mate.

Ah okay similar to drivers positions wait then yeah?

It can take months and months......and then the waiting begins :D
Patience is very much the key word in the NR recruitment process it seems....

Waiting is definately part of it!!!! Had an interview nealy two weeks ago and still waiting for the outcome....

Patience is a virtue! But hopefully we’ll worth it!

Best of luck mate. How was it?

I’ve been invited to take online tests, is that a general speed of reply at this stage?

Hi, where did you interview? I had one a couple of weeks back as well but no updates since either. Not getting my hopes up though as it was pretty tough going.

A lot of the delays in NR are down to the hiring manager.
Not so much hiring manager! Earlier this year, my old hiring manager had interviewed and offered job to an applicant... HR hadn't even sent out emails to unsuccessful candidates, until the successful candidate had ready started. I feel HR have no speed or priority... Not saying hiring manager is blameless, but I know how busy they can be!

That may be because they need a fail safe just in the applicant withdrew or the referencing didn’t come back as they’d hoped.
