Yet another decision from the late 1980s / early 1990s reversed and previous arrangements reinstated

Are they going to upgrade private farm crossings as well, or just the public highway ones. There are quite a few of the former between Ayr and Stranraer. I know they already have user worked gates, but it would be nice to have extra protection.

No idea, in my mind im picturing those horse/motorbike gate's that are low and you can just step across.

Shame they cant go back to a person operating the gates, that is the most safe way of doing things. But good news for the drivers ,no more idiots crossing in front of them .

Presumably the previous arrangements involved the crossings being individually manned - if so, no, it's not a case of reinstating the previous arrangements!

The AOCL+B designation mentioned in the article suggests that it's not very much different to an ABCL (which is similar in appearance, to road users, to an AHB) - possibly with simplified controls omitting full proving on the barriers or similar? Not sure, but there's obviously something to make it different to an ABCL.

AFAIK an ABCL is just an AOCL+B, but built as such

Good news but I give it up to a week before the first barrier is ripped off when someone jumps their usual crossing and doesnt expect the barrier to be in their way.
