Hello,

I have a annual ticket between Reading and Bracknell bought for £1128.

It expires 24th of October 2017.
I am going to stop using it on the 31st of March.

Now, if I have done my calculations correct, for a straight refund I will get back £566,82 - £10 admin.

If I however did a changeover for one of the cheapest two stretches available, how do I work this out? Is the cheapest still the ryde stretch, I'm happy for anyone to come with suggestions and how much I would get back between the two.

The cheapest with Gold Card entitlement is Hatton-Lapworth. There are probably other cheaper annuals without GC entitlement.

Ah cheers Hadders, I didn't know that.

The main reason for me to do a changeover is to keep the gold card unless the price difference is a big difference.

Any idea how to calculate a changeover to Hatton then on the 31st of March?

Ryde has not been the cheapest for years, if ever.

A ticket from 25/10/16 to 31/03/17 would have cost:

five months + 7 days = 3.84 * 5 + 0.90 = 19.29 weeks

http://www.railforums.co.uk/showthread.php?p=1132953

£1128 / 40 * 19.29 = £543.98

Hence refund value = £1128 - £543.98 = £584.02

Meanwhile the changeover value is remaining days:
30 + 31 + 30 + 31 + 31 + 30 + 24 = 207

1128 * 207/365 = £639.72

An annual season Hatton - Lapworth is and was £160/year, so 160 * 207/ 365 = £90.74

Hence changeover = £548.98

Or Dockyard - Devonport (no Gold Card) = £116/year (possibly cheaper last year?) = £65.79. So £573.93 for changeover.
