Are suicides on the railways more common these days?

Don't need to be a psychology major to understand peoples' intentions. He was relying on his plan of blackmail to work so had no intention of committing suicide. Same goes for people who just want to make a scene. You ever see on the news 'Man dies after strangers pleading with him not to jump' Or 'Man dies after wife refuses his demands' No, it's always 'Man found dead, police believe suicide was the cause'.

These people do have mental disorders, you're right. They are psychopaths and love upsetting people to get their way, but they aren't suicidal.

Psychopaths are much more likely to get to be President of the United States, Russia or North Korea than they are to commit suicide. They'll always put themselves above all others and won't care how many others get destroyed, either physically or metaphorically, in the process. Why would they need to kill themselves when it is everybody else who is wrong and of no significance?

I think there are a few rather ill-judged and somewhat impetuous posts on this thread, which concerns a genuinely complicated and sensitive subject.

I think it might be prudent for posters to sit back and take a breath first and consider whether any contribution they might wish to post is enlightening to the issue, or not.

Either we discuss the subject or we don't.

If I remember correctly, yes you're right, not all psychopaths are bad people or have anything wrong with them, it becomes a disorder when you're willing to upset people this much to get what you want.

Completely wrong - you should read up on what a psychopath actually is. A true psychopath is highly unlikely to commit suicide.

It’s fair to say someone who is threatening to commit suicide, for whatever reason, is in a very dark place. Sadly most don’t threaten, they just get on with it.

As a general point I think this thread could do with a bit more compassion and an acceptance that, for many people, the UK in 2017 isn’t an easy place to live in.

We can, anyone of us, fall on very hard times and don’t know how we would react. I speak from experience.

There, but for the grace of God
etc.
